Rudolph Herzog. Berlin. [1916]. 4to. 132pp, on heavier paper + unused diary on a lighter weight, toned paper. Numerous illustrations in monochrome and colour. Original cream cloth, with black and gilt decoration to boards and spine. Decorative endpapers. Pencil holder. Slightly bumped to corners. Some slight discoloration to boards. Contains in addition to the calendars, the seating plans of the Berliner theatre, Berlin City maps etc. In addition a wealth of cultural contributions, such as theatre productions, festivals, costumes and fashions, museums and monuments, travel descriptions, local historical essays as well as other articles, including on military, naval and aviation incidents during the First World War, with photographs.
Rudolph Hertzog (1815-1894) German entrepreneur and founder of the famous department store in Berlin, producing an annual agenda of around 200 pages, which was overseen by Paul Lindenberg and Rudolf Pietsch, and others.

Decorative endpapers. Slightly faded with some wear to extremities. Text in German and French, is crisp and bright. Rare: no library holdings recorded worldwide.Practical resources for fiancées and newlyweds. Photographs of views in Switzerland. Numerous period advertisements. Jean Frey (1861 - 1951) founded his art printers in Zurich in 1889. From 1919 it was known as Jean Frey AG. This rare volume is dated from c. 1907 from advertisements within, and cannot be later than 1919 as it has the earlier printer's device to the final page.

Lightly toned, covers a little discoloured. Final page index of prices struck through neatly with pen. Updated prices printed in purple ink. Order forms at rear removed at serration. Within the text is a reference to the Fertilizers and Feeding Stuffs Act, 1906 and a testimonial dated 1906, dating this catalogue to the early twentieth century.Pike and Tucker Offices 10 & 11 Peter Street Bristol; Factory 7,8, & 9 Cathay, Redcliffe, Bristol. A historic and rare Bristol trade Catalogue. Peter Street was destroyed in the tragic German Blitz of Bristol in 1940 - 1941, it seems that the Cathay factory was also destroyed and all records were lost. The printer of this catalogue, Messrs Bennett Brothers works was also destroyed, but their records have been preserved in Bristol Archives.

Curzon, George Nathaniel, Marquess Curzon of Kedleston (1859–1925), politician, traveller, and viceroy of India. At the time of writing, he was Foreign Secretary. In January 1924, Curzon vacated the Foreign Office and he was able to devote much of 1924 to completing one of his finest books, a study of Calcutta and the viceroys which was posthumously published under the title British Government in India; the work mentioned in this letter.
Sir Evan Cotton

The etching illustrates two chefs preparing food.Fritz Gross (1895 -1969) Architect and artist, the instigator of open plan design, born in Brelitz, an Austrian Jew who fled to England with his family in 1938 at the invitation of the President of the Royal Institution of British Architects. The Fritz Gross collection is housed in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.

Typed and handwritten signed letter to "My dear Watson" dated 5th January 1934. 1pp. 20cm x 25cm. King's College Zoological Department headed watermarked notepaper. The advance copy of the book mentioned is Huxley's "Elements of Experimental Embryology" co-written with Gavin de Beer. "I have got a German refugee working here who is getting interesting results with Sabella". The German refugee was Fabius Gross (1906 – 1950) Hitler's Black Book entry: "Since 1934 – Researcher at King's College, London University. Speciality – genetics; experimental cytology; protozoology; experimental zoology." Gross and Huxley published 'Regeneration and reorganisation in Sabella' in 1935. The letter also mentions work with Alexander Wolsky and C. J. Bond.

Leslie Hore-Belisha, 1st Baron Hore-Belisha Liberal MP, Cabinet Minister, Secretary of State for War, dismissed in 1940, revealing widespread anti-Semitism in government. Oswald Mosely calling him a "Jewish Warmonger", Henry Pownall called him a "political jewboy". H.G. Wells named him in "The Shape of Things to Come" 1934 – prophetically it turned out.
