Description:
London: Sampson Low, Marston, Searle & Rivington, 1881. Hardcover. Good+. SECOND Edition, lt. blue cloth, good plus. Both volumes a little shaken, foxed on top edge, less on foreedge, spines darkened. Books were bound with signatures stapled rather than sewn, and this is not a good idea; the staples are rusted, and some signatures are loosening. Moderate foxing in text at beginnings and ends. All plates and maps are present, but the folding map in rear of vol. 2 (with hand-colored routes and rivers) has been repaired with packing tape, now replaced with archival tape, but stained brown where the old tape was. 424 + 422 pp., index in vol. 2.
