Original boards very worn and stained, spine replaced with a piece of coarse linen, hinges cracked and the book falls open in two equal parts which are nonetheless still secured by the linen spine, inked name to front free endpaper (address has been erased with abrasion to the paper). York: A Ward for Wilson, Etherington et al,, 1768. Ex-Cheltenham library, re-bound in sturdy red cloth with title and library reference in gilt to spine, library sticker ('not for loan') and barcode to front free (new) endpaper, title page has been repaired professionally to the outer edge and has a pencilled number reference on the verso, 14 fold-out copperplates predominantly in very good condition (tear to plate 6) WITHOUT any library stamps; 'directions to binder' page has neat writing in ink to the top; pages are lightly marked in places, but for the book's age are remarkably good.. First complete edition, printed from one of the original manuscripts, and reproducing in facsimile the title page, and plans of the church, spelling has not been modernised, red/brown cloth with blind stamp designs, and gilt lettering on the front (Gough's History of Myddle 1700-1701), some wear and marking to cloth and board edges, corners bumped and frayed, spine is faded, some dust and foxing to edges, two small black strips to front pastedown, some foxing to grey endpapers and prelims, including the title page plate and its tissue guard, internally pages and other plates are very good; substantially a very pleasing copy of a medieval classic of topography and genealogy. New edition, volume one (books 1 and 2), tan leather with gilt titles and decoration (some rubbing and marking), five raised bands to spine, some splitting to the spine ends, corners and spine ends rubbed/worn, board edges pushed, library plate (Dalton Hall Library), and bookplate of William Yates to front pastedown, signature of John Yates of Harrow to front free endpaper, pull-out map of Greece to front, internally generally very good with plates showing Greek wrestlers at the rear.. A rare early edition of the famous Concordance, black cloth which is worn, wrinkled and marked, edges and corners bumped, top of spine bumped and frayed, rough cut pages with dust, browning and some foxing, title label on spine is soiled but legible, frontispiece engraving of Cruden with tissue guard, both yellowed and foxed, foxing to prelims, on front pastedown there is an ink name, and a very small sticker for 'Stratford Public Library, Worcester'; also contains Concordance to Apocrypha and a sketch of the life and character of the author by William Youngman. Early edition of Walton's classic (1836), a neat tight copy re-bound in modern red leather with no titles or decoration, new endpapers, 320 pages, browning to prelims, frontispiece portrait of Walton with slight browning to edges, title page has small ink mark, words and music to the 'Angler's Song', plates of Amwell Hill and Walton's House, Fleet Street, dust to edges, internally generally very good with many engravings (browning to edges which occasionally affects the text without obscuring). 12-page appendix, followed by index.. Hardcover. Good.

UK: Longmans Green, 1880. A very rare title, printed by Spottiswoode, bound in the original brown cloth with black borders and gilt lettering, but suffering from having been in 'Rice's Library' (blue sticker to the front board) where the spine has been repaired rather crudely with black tape, board edges rubbed, corners bumped and fraying, hinges cracked but still quite firmly attached, brown endpapers, stock number to front pastedown, page edges dusty and browned, strain to stitching internally with varying degrees of foxing to pages, but text complete and legible. 232 pages. Notes in pencil and pen to half-title, relating the former owner's family connections to Dr Rigby and his daughter; similar notes in pencil to title page. Unique eye-witness account of France on the eve of the Revolution of 1789.. First Edition. Hardcover. Acceptable.

London: S W Partridge, 1862. 16-page sewn publisher's catalogue in paper covers, produced for the International Exhibition 1862; illustrated title page (ivy-leaf border with inset circular black and white drawing for 'British Workman One Penny Monthly'). No illustrations within. Small singe mark to cover extends to all pages. Some spotting, but condition generally good.. Soft Cover. Good.

Volume One only, with the aquatints drawn and etched by Pyne, aquatinted by J Hill, oblong folio, ex-Cheltenham library re-bound in creamy yellow cloth (worn and marked in places), titles and library number in gilt to spine, new endpapers, library sticker ('not for loan') and barcode to first free new endpaper, small circular library stamp to the front of all plates at the edge, not affecting the illustrations, title page has been trimmed and affixed to the verso of the first plate (which has also been trimmed and reattached, with a library stamp and ink references to the left of the plate, not much affecting it). Two volumes re-bound in slightly worn and marked brown cloth with red title panels and gilt lettering to spine, 9 black and white engravings in vol. 1 with coloured print of St. Pauls with tissue guard, extra illustrated title page (both title pages have a name in ink at the top), 24 black and white engravings in vol. 2 with coloured print of Westminster Abbey without tissue guard, name in ink on title page, all plates variously dated, mostly 1826, but some 1825 or 1827, pages (thin and fragile) and edges browning, some foxing to plates and endpapers, but internally generally good, in vol. 1 pp369/70 have extra paper at top corner, which is cut and turned over, some cracking to rear hinge in both volumes, some strain to stitching of the plates in vol. 2, but binding secure; a handsome set..
