V. 1 has a bump at head of spine, and an armorial bookplate on the first pastedown. V.1 is brown cloth, p. w/19 b&w plates of spiders. V.2 is blue cloth, with 3 additonal plates. 560 p. Both volumes have the author's initials surrounded by vines in gilt on the front board and gilt lettering to spine. Bristowe was a well known British naturalist and authority on spiders. Section B

A very good reference work, with may illus. and small sections on important aspect of each breed. Each breed gets 2 pages, but the book is very comprehensive in scope.
