Attractive section breaks, section decorations, and red caps throughout book. A collection of recipes, some real, some imaginary, from this Romanian humorist and poet. The entries are from his 1950's newspaper column as a food critic, rather than his earlier column from the 1930s and 40s. Uncommon, esp. in the West.

Slight wear to edges and corners of covers. 98 (2) p. w/ recipes and notes from mystery authors. An unsual cookbook, the Cascade Friends of the Library contacted numerous mystery authors and asked them for recipes. What they received back was a great variety of recipes, recommendations, and notes on what their characters liked to eat, along with many facsimile signatures of the authors themselves. . Authors reponding include Tony Hillerman, Martha Grimes, Roderick Jefferies, Joan Aiken, M.C. Beaton, Robert Bloch, Lawrence Block, Michael Bond, Lilian Jackson Braun, Tom Clancy, Barbara D'Amato, Susan Dunlap, Loren Estleman, Dick Francis, Sue Grafton, Jonathan Kellerman, Ed McBain, Peter Lovesey, Sarah Parestsky, Robert Parker, Ellis Peters (who claims she is a total loss where cooking is concerned), Scott Turow, and more. Uncommon.

Ulm: J. Ebner, ca. 1878. 10th edition. Hardcover. Good. Thick octavo (regular size) in illustrated blue cloth binding. Corners and spine ends bumped, with cloth worn thru a bit at corners and heel of spine. Covers and spine scuffed, more so at back board, which has a number of whitish spots. Page edges lightly soiled, and pages a bit brown, but still supple. A few pages have small tears at edge. Small nick on half-title page, and a few pages have foxing. Cover and spine illustrations in black and gilt, with cover showing a young woman reading a book and spine having cooking equipment and game. Endpapers have a lovely floral pattern are are cloth-like in their texture. 724 p. w/many small b&w line illustrations, a yearly menu chapter, and index. A lovely, classic 19th century German cookbook in perhaps its best edition.

Recipes from the wives of the men of this Marine Corps squadron, whose mission is to provide training to pilots from all aviation branches a well as officers from various combat support and service areas. Done 3 years after the formation of the squadron. Each recipe is accompanied by the name of the woman who submitted it. Uncommon.

An important and still considered seminal work on sweets and desserts from the Mideast, here in its original edition. A good addition for cookbook and culinary history collectors.

The publisher, General Publishing, was a specialist in these kind of local charity cookbooks and started by two women for that purpose. An uncommon charity cookbook for police, specifically highway patrolmen of Ohio.
