Book measures 180mm x 120mm approximately.
Bound in full contemporary calf and more recently re-backed. New spine has five gilt-ruled raised bands with floral motifs to compartments and contrasting tan title label. Includes engraved frontispiece representing the "origin of kisses" and an engraved vignette on the second title.
CONDITION
The binding is holding extremely firm indeed. Boards show some wear and scuffs and repair marks for new spine hinges. Internally the pages are generally browned with an occasional spot. Shadowing to title page caused by the engraving. Previous owner bookplate to front paste-down.
Overall, a lovely tight and pleasant copy of this rather rare work.

A simple and fitting binding in contemporary full brown calf. Spine with bands with gilt motif to each compartment and black title label. Marbled end-papers and paste-downs. Engraving to verso of title page and many further engravings throughout.
CONDITION
The binding is holding quite firm. A one inch crack to the upper front hinge. Some small losses to top of spine. A few nicks and scuffs to boards and some mild bumping to board corners. Internally the pages are generally clean throughout, with just a few random spots and a little light browning to end-papers.
Overall, a lovely tight little volume in good condition.

Bound in quarter calf over marbled boards. Probable 19th century spine with five raised gilt-ruled bands with elaborate herringbone style decoration to compartments, and maroon author label.
CONDITION
The binding is holding very firm. Both boards exhibit reasonable wear, scuffs and knocks with bumping to corners. Sympathetic repair marks of boards attachment to later spine visible, but not obtrusive. Spine in nice bright good condition. Internally the pages are uniformly aged with consistent browning although clean. Some foxing to paste-downs and end-papers. Previous owner inscription to front paste-down, plus ink inscriptions to front end-papers.
A very nice example of this rather rare volume.

Nicely bound in full tan calf. Spine with four gilt-ruled raised bands with elaborate gilt decoration to the compartments. Twin gilt fillet borders to both boards and superb gilt inner dentelle to board inners. Marbled end-papers and paste-downs. All edges in gilt. Engraved author portrait frontispiece.
CONDITION
In overall very good condition. The binding is in firm and tight condition. The boards exhibit some general scuffs, marks and knocks, and some light rubbing of hinges and bumping to board corners. Internally the pages are clean and bright although with some occasional foxing spots, to the title page and rear end-papers. Small neat previous owner signature to top of front end-paper and bookplate to front paste-down.
Overall, a nicely bound volume in good condition.

CONDITION
In very good condition. The bindings are both extremely firm indeed. There are only a few very light surface scratches to boards. Internally the pages are incredibly clean and bright throughout. Just some minor shadowing to end-papers and paste-downs.
