All presumably disbound from books, and unevenly cropped along all margins. A collection of 35 illustrated plates by Gustave Dore, most from his illustrations of the Rime of the Ancient Mariner, although a few are from other undetermined works. GOOD condition. Margins a bit unevenly cropped. Varying amounts of foxing to the plates, some with none, some with more moderate foxing. All a bit toned. Minor soiling. Each plate unfortunately numbered in ink at the upper left corners and reverse, spanning 2-36. Most with a bit of wear along the edges.

Vivid depiction of a landing party fighting with natives on Vanuatu in the Pacific, with men in landing boats firing upon a mob of natives armed with spears and rocks. Notable is the depiction of Captain Cook aiming his gun at the crowd. Piece measures 19 inches long by 9 ¾ inches tall. From a Dutch language edition of Cook's travels, plate number LV as indicated at the top right. In FAIR/GOOD condition. A 1 by 3 ½ inch rectangle missing from the upper right margin, with a 4 inch jagged tear also at the upper right, affecting the illustration. A Valentine's Day card depicting a New York Central and Hudson Railroad locomotive amidst a snowy scene on the front cover; a simple map in the interior shows two hearts uniting along a railroad line and includes such locations as coquettish cutting and wooing hill; the rear displays three Cupid angels. This may be an American adaption of a German card published by Ernest Nister, noted for his pop up and movable book designs. GOOD+ condition. minor toning and edgewear. By Charles Dana Gibson, the noted American illustrator, perhaps best known for his 'Gibson Girl,' being his depiction of the modern woman at the beginning of the 20th century. An engraved illustration depicting the people in the procession at the Christening of Prince Arthur, son of Henry VII. With five rows of figures in various states of dress, as well as the Royal group. Presumably done by Richard Godfrey, a British engraver known for his depictions of views and ancient sites around England (see DNB, Volume 22). GOOD condition. Several horizontal and vertical fold creases present, with some other creases and wrinkles also present. A three inch tear present along one of the vertical fold, affecting the illustration. Extremities chipped and worn, with minor tearing. Some soiling, foxing and minor staining.
