A biography of Alexander Hamilton, focusing primarily on his political career and influence on American institutions. GOOD condition. Heavy fading to the spine and along the top edge. Reprinted as an offprint from an April 1959 issue of the Proceedings of the American Antiquarian Society. A short biography and bibliography of the known works of Amos Taylor, a sometimes bookseller, teacher and author living in New Hampshire and Vermont during the mid to late 1700s and early 1800s. Characterized as "a great impostor" by an officer in the militia in which he served during the Revolutionary War, it appears Taylor was involved in a variety of minor schemes and events gaining him minor notoriety in Vermont and New Hampshire. As the other concludes his contribution to the "American scene," was not of "marked importance." VERY GOOD condition. Minor staining to the covers where the staples are present in the binding. Light wrinkling.

Faded red topstain to the book. 285 pp. Early US edition of this important work documenting life in hiding during World War II, chronicling the anxiety and malaise under the threat of discovery by German forces. GOOD condition. Minor fading, toning and soiling to the jacket, a bit heavier to the rear panel. Jacket extremities and hinge scuffed. Minor uneven fading to the book. Text block browned. Several pages wrinkled/creased at their top corners.

A short work reflecting on the life and writing of Peter Hille. Hille was a German Naturalist poet, often associating with socialists and anarchists, and living-for a short time before his death-with members of the New Community, an anarchist-communist group in Berlin, Germany. GOOD condition. Moderate to heavy browning to the wraps, especially along the spine. Some foxing to the rear panel. Minor to moderate soiling. Some creasing and curling along the extremities, with a small tear at the center front fore edge. Very minor scattered soiling in the interior.

Present are the illustrations of Lincoln on a riverboat, and one of him chopping wood. Illustrations by Sol. Eytinge. Crudely sewn along the side. Double columned text. A poem for children memorializing the life of Abraham Lincoln. Bayard Taylor was a noted 19th century American poet and travel writer. POOR condition, with the aforementioned pieces MISSING. Very heavy chipping and tearing along the extremities, with a large piece of the lower center title page DETACHED but present. Vainio's collection of lichens helped establish the herbarium at the University of Turku in Finland. GOOD+ condition, slightly ex-library, with call numbers in pencil at the upper front cover. Uneven moderate browning along the wrapper's extremities, with uneven fading and light edgewear. Interior clean and solid.

A two volume work, including letters, etc., on the life of Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, vicomte de Turenne, a French general noted for his military prowess, leading many to consider him one of the greatest modern generals. He served during the Thirty Years' War, as well as the Eighty Years' War and against Spanish forces, among other battles and skirmishes.
