Description:
Worcester: American Antiquarian Society, 1959. Wraps. Very Good. Printed plain blue/green wraps. 55. Reprinted as an offprint from an April 1959 issue of the Proceedings of the American Antiquarian Society. A short biography and bibliography of the known works of Amos Taylor, a sometimes bookseller, teacher and author living in New Hampshire and Vermont during the mid to late 1700s and early 1800s. Characterized as "a great impostor" by an officer in the militia in which he served during the Revolutionary War, it appears Taylor was involved in a variety of minor schemes and events gaining him minor notoriety in Vermont and New Hampshire. As the other concludes his contribution to the "American scene," was not of "marked importance." VERY GOOD condition. Minor staining to the covers where the staples are present in the binding. Light wrinkling.
