Tiny dings to a couple corners and light paper scarring to ffep from sticker removal. Clean with tight binding. Jacket is unclipped ($2.00) with tiny chips to top corners and head of spine with lesser wear to bottom edges. Short tear to top of rear panel, punture to rear flap crease and some tanning to spine and edges.

London: George Bell & Sons, 1892. Hardcover. Good/N/A. Stated Fifth Edition, Revised. Later edition and printing rebound for a library in red cloth with gilt to type and design motif on spine. Frayed at head of spine with call number at bottom. Sticker removal scar to top of rear board and general edge/corner wear. Bookplate to front pastedown, due slip to ffep and pocket to rear pastedown. Intermittant library markings to first and last few pages. Clean interior and solid binding.

Previous owner's name and date '1928' to ffep and some shallow paper scarring/residue to front pastedown, likely from bookplate removal. Pages toned and binding solid.

Paper well tanned and splits at front and rear hinges with mull showing, but still holding. Stamp and sticker to ffep with stamp to another page. Jacket is unclipped(no price) with chipping and short tears, but remarkably whole and bright.

A rough, but complete later ex-library copy in dark navy blue cloth with gilt to type and publisher's colophon blind stamped to front cover. Fraying to spine ends with cloth strips to board ends missing. Some abrasions/staining to board edges from moisture damage, especially to top of rear board which has some rippling. Paper residue from old jacket protector to pastedowns with pocket to rear free endpaper. Front hinge is split with mull showing, but still holds. Tear to top of table of contents. Some ocassional marks, stains thorughout book with more rippling and fint staining towards top as you progress through the book. Jacket has small paper scars to insides of flaps, 2 inch tear to top of front panel at spine and nicks/short tears to spine ends. Library call number sticker to bottom of spine. Moisture staining/rippling to top half of spine, rear panel and rear flap. Some shallow scratches to panels.

In black blindstamped boards with gilt to type. Small gouge to front board and small stain. Spots rubbed through at head and heel of spine and bottom front corner. Corners bumped with small stain at bottom rear. Spine faded. Illustrated endpapers. Front hinge split at verso of half-title page with mull showing, but still holiding. Some moisture staining to top of front page ends and front of top page ends to about page 150 with some light foxing and again to last 100 pages.

Some adhesive staining to tops and bottoms of pastedowns, paper scarring and residue with number ins pen to ffep, stamps to rear pastedown and some moisture stains to bottoms of rear endpapers. Some separation to front hinge with mull showing, but still holding. A few pencil marks to Table of Contents. Jacket decent with one 1/4 inch tear to top of spine and a few pale and small moisture stains to heel of spine and bottom of rear panel.

A lovely copy in beige boards, blue spine and gilt to type. Light ding to top front corner, but all still sharp. Interior clean and binding solid. Jacket glossy and in great shape.
