Very Good. 6 folding plates from the book "Report On The Renewal Of Niagara Suspension Bridge, 1880" and published in 1881.Each 13 x 8 1/8 inches. Plates were folded now flat. Black printing one side only on light paper stock. Other than some brown staining on plate #1 at the far left edge and the right fold, all are in very good condition.Leffert L. Buck's professional achievements include the reconstruction of John A. Roebling's Niagara Railroad Suspension Bridge over the Niagara Gorge. In 1877, Buck undertook the reconstruction of the Niagara Railway Suspension Bridge. He developed unique methods which allowed the work to proceed without interruption of the railroad traffic using this bridge. During the following eight years, Buck ensured the cable anchors were repaired and reinforced. The wooden trusses were replaced with iron and steel. The Illustrated London News, London, 1934. ORIGINAL single color page from an illustrated newspaper, The Illustrated London News (England) dated Aug 11, 1934. Contains a 14" x 10" engraving of a 1546 map / view of the founding of CANADA by Jacques Cartier. The ILN was the premiere illustrated newspaper of the 1st half of the 20th Century !!! The newspaper was 14" x 10" and usually contained 32 pages or more. There are many many pages of gorgeous woodcut engravings (and in later issues photos), highly prized today for their detailed woodcut illustrations of events in World history. The ILN generally contained engravings in different sizes, from double page (20" x 15") to single page (15" x 10") to half page (10" x 7") and at times even quarter page. The Illustrated London News in the 20th Century was printed on high quality white glossy paper stock, quite durable and easy to handle without damage.

Lambton Castle stands above Chester-le-Street, County Durham and is a stately home, the ancestral seat of the Lambton family, the Earls of Durham. Largely constructed as it is between 1820 and 1828 by John Lambton, first Earl of Durham and one-time Governor General of Canada, it was built around Harraton Hall, a 17th-century mansion. The castle was designed by architects Joseph Bonomi the Elder and his son Ignatius and built in the style of a Norman castle, as was the fashion of the time.

Sir Tatton Sykes, 4th Baronet (1772-1863) was an English landowner and stock breeder, known as a patron of horse racing.Sykes was 74 in 1846 when he led in William Scott's horse—called after him, Sir Tatton Sykes—a winner of the St. Leger Stakes. His last visit to Doncaster was in 1862, to see his seventy-fourth St. Leger. He died at Sledmere on 21 March 1863, and was buried on 27 March in the presence of three thousand persons. A portrait of him was painted by Sir Thomas Lawrence in 1805, and another by Sir Francis Grant in 1848. wikipedia.
