The title page to book of Common Prayer dated 1779; illustration and title page to A Companion to the Altar; title page to Psalms of David 1787. Internally clean and tight, very slightly trimmed with no impact on the text or columns, matching marbled endpapers, faint neat name to the first front blank, Mrs Farmer, Lawrence Weston, then to second blank in attractive ink pen Susannah Farmer, Lawrence Weston, no further markings. No date, but bound in at the back is "A New Version of the Psalms of David fitted to the Tunes Used in Churches" dated 1845, though the Book of Common Prayer looks earlier. Copper engraved title page, copper engraved frontispiece of "Praise the Lord upon the harp..." with 7 furthe copper-engraved plates. Contemporary tan, full straight-grained morocco binding with gilt decoration to the spine and black spine label, straight cloth binding with gilt lettering, binding very good with slight rubbing to extremities. All edges heavily gilt. Contents clean and tight, paper to hinges worn, but hinges remain strong. no inscriptions, minimal foxing. A very good tight copy in a handsome binding..

Oxford: J. Parker and C. and J. Rivington, 1825. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Third Edition. 4to (25 x 30cm). pp. lxxii, 966. A very good copy in an attractive binding. All edges Gilt. Original straight-grained morocco binding, four raised bands to the spine, gilt and blind-stamped decoration to spine and boards, gilt dentelles in a Greek fret pattern. Extensive gilt decorated borders to all edges of the front paste-down. Binding good and strong with a little general wear and some rubbing, corners lightlly worn. Inner hinges in blue morocco, the front hinge with minor damage, but not affecting the integrity of the hinge. Contents clean and tight; original grey-coated endpapers. Front blanks with some spotting; title page lightly marked, otherwise pages clean and crisp. A very good, bright clean copy. This, the famous and monumental Vinegar Bible also known as the Baskett full of errors, and generally acknowledged as the most magnificent Bible printed in England. The volume is complete in all respects. It comprises the complete text of the Old Testament, Apocrypha, and New Testament, along with the two title pages and the preliminaries. Both titles display beautiful engravings, with the general title showing a particularly fine view of Oxford. Frontispiece engraved by Du-Bose representing Moses writing the first words of Genesis, letterpress title printed in red & black and with engraved scene of Oxford (both lined to verso). The bible has been expertly re-backed retaining the original calf leather boards with blind stamp decoration, firm near fine. Original black morocco binding with gilt lettering and decoration, further blind stamped decoration; binding very good and strong with a little general wear and some rubbing to extremities and joints, slight worm damage, very slightly chipped to the head of the rear joint. The verses of the Bible are followed by "The Life of our Blesed Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ', followed by "The Lives of the Holy Evangelists".
