Bookplate of Griswold College on front paste down. Contemporary covers are rubbed and show a few scuffs. The top hinge (internal) is broke and there is a little separation between paste down and front free end leaf. Text block remains tight and well attached to covers. There is a half-page inked notations seen on the front free end leaf. Contents are just a little darkened, though are generally in very good condition.. Vellum. Good/No Dust Jacket. sm 4to.

Small book plate on front paste down, and long statement of ownership from inheritance on blank front free end page. Inked name on title page, as well as a small corner missing. Foxing on end leaves. Volume remains tight and is otherwise clean and intact.

Boston: True & Ball for B. Pike, 1806. 180 pages. Beginning with title page and ending with the last page of text. Any free end leaves, half title, etc. that may have been present are no longer. Full leather covers are scuffed and rubbed. There is a tear with some loosening of about one inch at the crown of the spine. Contents with some darkening and light to moderate foxing. One signature is loosened, and remains holding by one thread. . Full Leather. Fair/No Dust Jacket. 12mo.

"Normannia" / July 1890 / with compliments / from the writer / Maud B Booth." Ex-library with older neatly inked numbers on spine, and usual, though non-intrusive, library markings inside. Spine is a little faded, though lettering and decoration remain bright. Top cover with flag motif and title/author remains bright and particularly attractive. Volume remains tight and is otherwise clean and intact. A nice copy with a good clean author's inscription. Strong source of contemporary information regarding the Salvation Army.

Volume has been bound, along with original paper wrap covers, into a library binding. Presented to the Newberry Library by Edward Everett Ayer, and now de-accessioned. No external library markings and only minimal inside covers. The only marking on the original work is a call number at the bottom of last page, that shows a little offset onto the lower edge of the inside of the rear cover. Library binding is rubbed and very lightly worn. Paper wrap covers show smudges and small stains. Contents are very clean and intact.
