Description:
Apparently two copies of this 48 page brochure exist in the BNF. These are the only ones we have been able to locate - so, VERY RARE! This is an argument in favour of a drastic (two-thirds) reduction to leave only the light brigades, still in 1869 potentially useful on the battlefield. This booklet was purchased by Louis Tronchin, a Colonel in the Swiss Federal Army. His handwritten autograph appears at the top of cover: "M. Louis Tronchin Col. Féd. à Lavigny".Excellent condition despite light foxing throughout.Price negociable. Postage free worldwide.

There is one other quarter inch tear and it has been bumped, particularly at the top spine end and there are a couple of other minor folds or creases. The jacket says "6th impression". It is price clipped. The book cover is in very good condition. The endpapers are browned and reflect the inside flaps of the dust jacket. There is a small pencilled annotation on top right hand corner of page three of cover ("27. 12. 51"). There is a very light oily stain spreading across the top third of page 11-12 and one associated pinhole. When closed the page tops appear somewhat dusty and the pages themselves are perhaps slightly though regularly yellowed.First Edition. Very Good/Very Good.

First impression of the true first edition, published in 1940. With a four page Preface by J. M. Keynes, King's College, Cambridge, February, 1940.Very good in blue-green paper covered printed boards with black titles and borders on the front board. Spine complete but with one 1.5 inch tear to the base (see photo) The bottom right-hand corner of the rear board is slightly creased. Light grey or blue pencil underlinings on several pages of text as well as marginal notes on the appendix. No foxing. Spine tight.
