Spine has been rebacked with five raised bands and titles in gilt on label within one of the compartments. Condition: Good, covers are rubbed around edges with general shelfwear and some sunning and staining. Binding sound. Bookplate of Lord Walsingham bearing the motto " Excitari non Hebescere" on front pastedown. Text lightly browned throughout with occasional foxing. Edinburgh: Sir D.H.Blair and J.Bruce, 1802. Book. Fair. Full-Leather. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Full black leather binding . All edges gilt. Condition: Fair, binding sound, covers are in good condition, with the patina of use. Front and back endpapers are lightly browned, and have the dates of births and deaths of several members of the Taylor family from Bolton, (also written as Bolton in the Moor) Lancashire, the earliest birth date being 1813. The first section of text at the begiining of the book (after the calendar) is the order of Morning Prayer. The first twelve pages are quite soiled at the bottom right edges of the text, with chunks missing from the lower right edges of the first ten pages, getting progressively smaller. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

Oxford: Printed at the Clarendon Press by W.Jackson and A.Hamilton, 1786. Book. Good. Full-Leather. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. Bound in period dark red leather with gilt tooling, five raised bands to spine. Marbled endpapers. All edges originally gilt but only faint evidence of this. Previous owners initials, A.S.H. in gilt on the front cover (the reverse of the front endpaper bears the inscription Ann Speed Hodgskin her book 1789). Another later previous owners name on reverse of frontispiece. The covers are quite rubbed and shelfworn, binding holding firmly. The page facing plate 22 has a three inch horizontal tear. Quite heavy foxing to first and last few pages. The book has general light browning and foxing throughout. Half-title bears an gift inscription dated 1865 to the previous owners (Franciscan convent, Woodchester, Glos.) and the following blank page bears a small modern address label for the Franciscan convent, Woodchester, with the word "library" neatly written in biro above. The front endpaper and following page have had the top corners removed (about one and a half inch depth). Binding sound, but some pages have light creasing to the internal edge where they meet the centre. 351pp. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
