Couturat is best-known as the most influential French mathematician and philosopher working in mathematical logic within the tradition developed by Frege, Russell, Peano, and others in the early twentieth-century. Couturat engaged in extensive correspondence with Russell and is still widely recognized for his influential work on Leibniz.
