London: The Quality Book Club, 1960. Quality Book Club edition. Slight creasing to edges of dustwrapper, otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. Deals with the attempt made by Eiloart, his son Tim, and Colin & Rosemary Mudie to cross the Atlantic in a balloon in 1958. They set off from Tenerife, but the balloon crashed into the sea 1200 miles SE of the Canary Islands. They sailed the rest of the way in the twin-hulled gondola until they were towed into Barbados. 256pp, 2 b&w diagrams.. Book Club (BCE/BOMC). Hard Cover. Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Gloucester: Alan Sutton Publishing Ltd, 1986. Slight creasing to the top edge of unclipped dustwrapper, also a small tear to top edge of back panel and slight fading at the spine, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. An account of a tour through Scotland in 1825 made by John Eddowes Bowman and his friend John F M Doveston. They left Wrexham on 15th July, arriving in Glasgow via Dumfries. They visited Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, Inveraray and Loch Tay; then sailed from Rothesay to Mull, Staffa and Iona and back to Oban. On 30th July they were in Fort William, climbing Ben Nevis on the next day, then up the Great Glen to Inverness, south to Dunkeld and Perth, then Edinburgh, south to Dunbar, then over the Border to Berwick and to Newcastle, then Home on the 15th August. The author declined to publish the original manuscript so it was only published in 1986. 210pp, a few b&w illustrations.. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Some wear to the blue paper spine, with some of it worn completely away, some creasing and small tears to back cover, but otherwise a good, internally clean and tight copy of this soft-cover book. Originally published in 1873, this is a slightly later, undated edition but with advert inside front cover for Berkshire Life Insurance company dated 1878. The author was one Wallace Bruce (1844-1914) who wrote several other similar guidebooks and also some slim poetry collections. A guide to places of interest along the Hudson River from New York to Albany. Folding map at rear of book has a tear about halfway along the top fold, but otherwise still whole. 177pp, b&w illustrations, folding map in colour.. Paperback. The author was quite a well-known writer of novels between the 1930s and 1950s. Deals with the author's childhood in Orkney, his service in WW1, Aberdeen university, travels in Persia, Russia, India and the US, up to the outbreak of WW2. 341pp. . Hard Cover. Otherwise an internally clean copy, with the text-block still tight, of this small hard-cover book, part of the publisher's ''Travellers Library'' series. Published originally in two volumes, this copy has both volumes together in one book. The travels of the author, an American, in Iceland in the mid nineteenth century. 252pp.. Hard Cover. Kilmarnock: Dunlop & Drennan, 1896. No dustwrapper, some wear to spine ends and corners of blue cloth-covered boards, a crack to the lower corner of back cover, old damp-staining to outer edges of both front and back covers, otherwise still a not too bad, tight copy, with black titles on front and spine still clear. The author's account of his round-the-World trip between February and July 1895 which was originally printed in his local newspaper, the "Kilmarnock Standard". He travelled from London to Naples, then on to Bombay and Ceylon before spending time in Australia and New Zealand; then across the Pacific via Hawaii to San Francisco, across America to New York, then Home.
