Gloucester: Alan Sutton Publishing Ltd, 1986. Slight creasing to the top edge of unclipped dustwrapper, also a small tear to top edge of back panel and slight fading at the spine, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. An account of a tour through Scotland in 1825 made by John Eddowes Bowman and his friend John F M Doveston. They left Wrexham on 15th July, arriving in Glasgow via Dumfries. They visited Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, Inveraray and Loch Tay; then sailed from Rothesay to Mull, Staffa and Iona and back to Oban. On 30th July they were in Fort William, climbing Ben Nevis on the next day, then up the Great Glen to Inverness, south to Dunkeld and Perth, then Edinburgh, south to Dunbar, then over the Border to Berwick and to Newcastle, then Home on the 15th August. The author declined to publish the original manuscript so it was only published in 1986. 210pp, a few b&w illustrations.. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Some wear to the blue paper spine, with some of it worn completely away, some creasing and small tears to back cover, but otherwise a good, internally clean and tight copy of this soft-cover book. Originally published in 1873, this is a slightly later, undated edition but with advert inside front cover for Berkshire Life Insurance company dated 1878. The author was one Wallace Bruce (1844-1914) who wrote several other similar guidebooks and also some slim poetry collections. A guide to places of interest along the Hudson River from New York to Albany.
