New York: Clarkson N Potter, 1964. Creasing and tears to edges of unclipped dustwrapper with about a half-inch being missing at bottom end of spine of same. Some bumping to spine ends and corners of gray boards which also have a few old water-marks on, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. Deals with the Battle of the Chesapeake on September 5th 1781 between ships of the British and French navies. The British defeat led to the surrender of Yorktown and American victory. Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucs: The Windrush Press, 1999. Very slight scuffing to outer corners of cover, otherwise a good clean tight copy, with no creasing to the spine, of this soft-cover book. An account by a German soldier from Wurttemberg who served in the French army in Poland, Austria, and in Russia in 1812, surviving the Retreat from Moscow. His hand-written account was sent to a son in the US many years later, and was re-discovered in the 1930s. 170pp, some b&w illustrations.. Paperback. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

London: Bickers & Son, 1890. "Revised, Condensed and Completed" edition from 1890. No dustwrapper, green bevelled-edged boards have minor wear to outer corners and rather more so to the spine ends, with a quarter-inch tear to the middle of top end of spine. Slight fading to spine, but gilt decoration thereon is still bright, as is the gilt decoration on front board. Binding just barely starting to loosen at half-title and at title page, foxing to outer pages, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. Originally published in three volumes in 1839-41, this is a later, "Revised, Condensed and Completed" edition from 1890. 387pp, 12 b&w illustrations, folding plan of Battle of Waterloo.. Hard Cover. London: Longmans, Green & Co, 1901. No dustwrapper. Minor bumping to spine ends and corners of maroon boards, some wear to bottom corners of same. Some fading to edges of (mostly) front board, but gilt lines to the edge of front board and gilt titles on spine are still bright. Some foxing to outer pages, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. Originally published in March 1898, but with many errors, the book was issued with the corrections in this "Silver Library" edition in January 1899 (1440 copies), with a reprint in February 1901 (1000 copies of which 337 sold). The endpapers in this copy have the swan and ship motif with the date 1726, which was used with the first edition, other copies have 1724. Minor creasing to edges of unclipped dustwrapper, some yellowing to the pages, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. The author's account of his time serving (as a cook) with a British Red Cross unit in Montenegro during the First Balkan War of 1912-13. Deals with activity during the American Revolutionary War in the Hackensack Valley which lies in north-eastern New Jersey and Rockland County, New York. The area, populated mainly by settlers of Dutch descent, lay between the British and the American lines, and suffered from marauders and plundering expeditions from both sides. 329pp, 8pp b&w illustrations and some others in the text, endpaper map.. Barnsley: Frontline Books, 2009. A very good clean tight copy in similar, unclipped dustwrapper of this hard-cover book. Originally published in German in 1846, the memoirs of Friedrich Lindau, who served in the 2nd Light Battalion of the Kings German Legion between 1809 and 1816, seeing action in the Peninsular War and at Waterloo. Translated and edited by James Bogle and Andrew Uffindell. 215pp, 4 maps.. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Minor bumping to spine ends and corners of blue boards, some fading to gilt titles on spine, some yellowing to the pages, but otherwise a not too bad, clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. Deals with events of April-July 1949 in China when the Royal Navy sloop HMS Amethyst was trapped by Communist troops on the Yangtse for almost three months before managing to escape downriver.
