No dustwrapper, green bevelled-edged boards have minor wear to outer corners and rather more so to the spine ends, with a quarter-inch tear to the middle of top end of spine. Slight fading to spine, but gilt decoration thereon is still bright, as is the gilt decoration on front board. Binding just barely starting to loosen at half-title and at title page, foxing to outer pages, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. Originally published in three volumes in 1839-41, this is a later, "Revised, Condensed and Completed" edition from 1890. 387pp, 12 b&w illustrations, folding plan of Battle of Waterloo.. Hard Cover. Originally published in March 1898, but with many errors, the book was issued with the corrections in this "Silver Library" edition in January 1899 (1440 copies), with a reprint in February 1901 (1000 copies of which 337 sold). The endpapers in this copy have the swan and ship motif with the date 1726, which was used with the first edition, other copies have 1724.
