Image 5 x 3-1/2 inches; overall frame is 14-1/4 x 12-1/4 inches. Fine condition. Housed in an elaborately decorated wood frame with gilt, fabric, and hand-painted mat. 1 vols. Image 5 x 3-1/2 inches; overall frame is 14-1/4 x 12-1/4 inches. 1885 Photo of Elaborate Child, In Elaborate Frame. The elaborately dressed child, wearing a pensive look, sits on a low plush-covered bench; the photographer's advertisement on back for "Children's Photos par excellence" gives the firm's address as 206 N. Clark Street, in what was Chicago's fashionable Near North Side. The frame is a bravura creation of rich complexity, easier viewed than described. A splendid piece of late-19th century upscale Americana.

Description:
1976. All about fine. I'm a humorous illustrator with many years of experience. I've worked in editorial, books, and advertising. I enjoy working with clients and bringing warmth, humor, and style to their ideas. I also have a natural ability to create my own concepts based on articles, ads or manuscripts. I originally began drawing humorous pictures (that's just how they came out) while growing up in Pennsylvania. I took my pad and pencil to Pratt Institute where I graduated with a BFA. I began my career while living in Brooklyn. (If you want inspiration for drawing humorous pictures try living in Brooklyn for a while.) It's The Funny Borough. And it was close enough to Manhattan to find some serious clients. In due time I got married and my wife Nancy and I had two terrific sons. We packed our bags (pad and pencil included) and headed for greener pastures...in New Jersey (another pretty funny place). Some time has passed and many changes have occurred but I'm still happily living in Madison, NJ,…

Description:
1956. 1 vols. Fine. 1 vols. Sidney Hook is arguably the most controversial figure in the tradition of American philosophy. Coming to prominence in the late 1920s as both the star pupil of John Dewey and an eminent Marx scholar, Hook devoted his early career to political action which placed him firmly among the fellow travelers of the Communist Party. Hook's political disposition began shifting towards the Right just prior to World War II. Around 1940, Hook adopted a vehement anti-Communism which led him to defend the reactionary political views for which he is now notorious. The coup d'grace of Hook's career for those who would demonize him as the quintessential turncoat came in 1985 when he was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Reagan.
