Self-published, 1970. 1st . Hardcover. Very Good. SIGNED copy. First printing of the complete set of five volumes. Each volume approximately 1,000 pp. plus addenda, thick 4to, cloth, no dj as issued. All 5 volumes are internally Fine with no owner's names, no significant wear. One volume has light wear to tips and some speckling to the edges of the text block. Very rare set, the definitive work on the subject, only about 100 copies were available for sale to the public. Each volume in the series stands alone as an amazing piece of work, based on interviews with hundreds of witchcraft/voodoo practitioners. Heavy, oversize books - about 3 inches thick. Very rare. These almost never come on the market, particularly the entire set in close to Fine condition. One of the volumes is warmly INSCRIBED by the author and dated 1978.

Suffern's signature on the half-title page. 66 pp., 12mo format in cream softcover wraps with front titles. This copy bears the Lucis Trust bookplate inside the front cover, rear library pocket, etc. A very fragile copy, missing the backstrip. Also the front cover is detached and has soiling tears and edge-chipping. Rear cover is similar but barely attached. Sewn binding is shaken but hanging on. Modest "old book" smell. A Fair copy of this very scarce item with interesting association.

Boards are in good condition, hinges are cracked but holding fairly well. Some marginalia in text. A nice association.
