Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1986. Hardcover. Good Plus to Very Good/Very Good. As one reviewer noted about Ornstein, the late Stanford psychologist, he was "gifted with the ability to expound difficult ideas simply." That is the case with "Multimind" in which he breaks down traditional barriers between for example, science and religion, that have hampered understanding of what our brains are and how they work. First edition, first printing (with complete numberline). About 5 3/4 x 8 1/2 inches, 206 pages including notes and references, in green paper-covered boards with black backstrip and silver lettering on spine. Abercrombie was an early 19th century Scottish physician, author and philosoper credited today for the first work on neuropathology as well as several other medical works. In 1830, he also published "Inquiries Concerning the Intellectual Powers and the Investigation of Truth," which he followed in 1833 by a sequel, "The Philosophy of the Moral Feelings." Though neither work showed much original thought, they were quite popular in academic circles of the time and were re-issued several times. This edition of "Moral Feelings, published in 1839," with an introductory chapter "with Additions and Explanations," by Jacob Abbott, a well-known New England author as well as a minister and educator, was intended to "adapt the work to the use of schools and academies." while presenting the original treatise in its entirety "without alterations or… Read More

New York: Harper & Row, 1979. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. The eighth novel by this greatly under-appreciated writer is this story of two Forham classmates whose paths re-cross 25 years after graduation. Peter Quinn, now a successful Washington lawyer and lobbyist, narrates the post-graduate lessons he receives from Edgar Lannin, a cynical, street-smart Boston newspaperman, on subjects including wives and children, booze, the Mafia, our nation's capital and power; upper corners of both boards slightly bumped, o/w boards and text are clean, tight, square; dustjacket shows some wear, with small tear and chip at top of spine, a small price sticker on front flap and crease and small stain on back flap; no large tears or major chipping.
