The interior is crisp and clean, showing no marks or wear, and the glossy paper covers show just a hint of wear at corners. A lovely copy. Synopsis: This is a collection of American-Finnish recipes, with a supplementary section of information on Finland, and Finns in America -- particularly Minnesota.

Harmondsworth, Eng.: Penguin, 1979. Hardcover. Very Good. This is an interesting format -- it looks like a Penguin paperback, but it has hard covers, not soft. The interior of the book is crisp and clean, with no marks or wear. The pictorial laminated covers are also in excellent condition, looking new. A very attractive copy. Fry's Cocoa. Soft cover. Very Good. This is a small-format booklet of 22 pages, giving the history of Fry's and many recipes, each with a small colour illustration. It is undated, but the introduction notes that Fry's is "Maker to His Majesty King George V" (1910-1936) , and it is a Canadian edition, since photos on the inside covers are of both the "New Fry Factory in a Garden at Somerdale, England", and of the Canadian factory at Montreal. The interior pages are in excellent condition, clean and fresh, with just a slight dent to the top corner. The coloured paper covers are in very good condition, with light wear and several small abrasions.

Halifax, NS: Formac Publishing, 1990. Soft cover. Very Good. The book looks new, with bright clean covers and a white comb binding. The interior is in very good condition, with just a few signs of previous use -- 1 small note on page 108, and a small brown spot on page 109 (which may indicate that the Carrot Pineapple Muffins recipe is particularly good). Synopsis: This is a collection of great recipes from inns and restaurants all over the Maritmes, including The Garrison House (Annapolis Royal), Benoit's (Fredericton), The Marshlands Inn (Sackville), The Blomidon Inn (Wolfville), The Boscowan Inn (Lunenburg) and many others. Note: Zwicker's Inn (Mahone Bay) is now gone, but this book includes the recipe for their incomparable Seafood Chowder.

The interior is clean and crisp, with no signatures or marks. The brown covers are fresh, with a bit of light wear at tips and corners. The just jacket is price-clipped, but is otherwise in excellent condition, with no tears or damage. Synopsis: This is a collection of recipes from the Scottish-Canadian kitchens of Pictou County, Nova Scotia. "Along with the recipes, there is a warm and lively narrative of the author's recollections of the cooking and eating habits of her youth: real cocoa, made with top milk, after skating parties; homemade root beer on summer verandahs; mushrooms and berries after a morning's picking session; oysters, clams and cornboils on the beach.

The pictorial laminated paper covers are also in very good condition, showing light wear at the corners, and one shallow fold on the front cover. Synopsis: This is a short (14 page) picture book, described as "an assembly cookery book for the very young, including illustrated nursery rhymes, and recipes with ingredients that are simply assembled and need little supervision". For example, in this book, Mary (and her little lamb) are tired after a long walk, and have Mary's Rose Petal Milk. Simple Simon buys some Sugar biscuits. The recipe involves spreading 6 shortbread biscuits with lemon curd, then dipping into coffee crystals.

The brown covers are clean, with light wear to edges and corners. The dust jacket is in Very Good - condition. It is not price-clipped, but does have moderate edgewear. There is no publisher or date of publication given in the book, but on the strength of a small Canadian Centennial sticker on the front cover, I have dated it as 1967. The interior of the book is clean and complete. A few pages have light bumps, but there are no other marks or damage. The card covers show light wear and handling, with some wear at tips and corners. A nice copy of this unusual cookbook. Synopsis: This is a small (40 page) cook book produced as a "souvenir of Prince Edward Island".
