Washington: Government Printing Office, 1922. 1st thus. hardbound. Good in rubbed/scuffed boards/no dustwrapper. 8vo. Part 2 of the Handbook of American Indian Languages, produced under the editorial supervision of Franz Boas, containing The Takelma Language of SW Oregon by Edward Sapir, Coos and Siuslawan by Leo Frachtenberg, and Chukchee by Waldemar Bogoras; being Bulletin 40 part 2 of the Smithsonian Institution Bureau of American Ethnology; this copy from the library of anthropologist and linguist Harry Hoijer (with some of Hoijer's marginalia in ink and pencil), who worked primarily on Athabaskan languages and culture, and was a student of Sapir; Hoijer's bookplate to front pastedown, and signature to front endpaper; former owner's name-stamp to front endpaper (offset to pastedown), generally good throughout (if a bit tired), with some sections with med-heavy tanning, net-binding visible at hinges of boards front and rear; boards rubbed and spotted, and with insect-damage along spine.
