A reprint, full newspaper size, of various Canadian newspapers reproducing certain headlines, Athenia Torpedoed (Edmonton Bulletin 9/4/39), Hess Bails Out Near Glasgow (Globe and Mail 5/13/41), Bismarck is Engaged (Saint John Telegraph-Journal 5/27/41), War Grips Pacific (Regina Leader-Post 12/8/41), Dieppe Fight (Ottawa Citizen 8/20/42), Allied Invasion of Sicily (Halifax Chronicle 7/12/43), Normandy Invasion (Montral Gazette 6/7/44), and Official V-E Day plus "Foe Fight on in Czechoslovakia (Calgary Albertan 5/8/45). I do not know what publisher compiled these front pages, but this is kind of a remarkable printing job of key WWII stories. Slight split middle of back fold. 8pps folded twice. Vg.

Part of Volume XXXI, Historical and Religious Texts from the Temple Library of Nippur. Please note this: this copy is disbound with the paper covers detached and some signatures separated from other because of broken threads. The front cover has minor chips and tears and the back cover with a couple of larger chips and tears. Very scarce in the first edition. Also please note that the text is uncut, meaning adjoining pages within a given signature are joined and therefore the copy is unread. Pages may be easily separated with the right tool/knife, but of course must be carefully done. There would be added labor cost if the buyer wishes me to do this work. Almost all copies of this for sale is in modern reprint form. This first edition very scarce.

Berlin, Ontario, changed its name in 1961 to Kitchener, according to several sources, because of rising anti-German sentiment. Originally, in 1833, the name was chosen after the capitol of Prussia. Decorative endpapers. Both hinges are "broken" meaning the paper is cracked at the (inside) hinges and the webbing there is floppy. I have decided not to attempt a cheap repair on this volume & would recommend the buyer take it to a professional in the bookbinding trade. It is too valuable a book to fix it incorrectly. S. edition. Maybe somebody can tell me. The book is fine and the dj is fine and not price-clipped with a price of $5.95.

On the lower front paste down is an attractive green and white bookseller's label about 7/8" x 7/8" in the form of the back of an open book bearing the following imprint: Foyles (on spine), Charing Cross Rd London WC2 (back cover), and Catalogues Free BOOKS BOUGHT (front cover). This is a fine copy in a vg dj that is unclipped (25 shillings dot net--spelling the price out because at least one website selling my books thinks its an email address which to them is a no - no) and has light to moderate wear. I did try to find something about Grantham, but didn't dig deep enough for results. I believe some searching on ancestry or other records would bear fruit.… Read More

Stamped on the ffep is "Edicion Limitada Num 237. 1st printing thus of the 1960 edition of the attractive Ortega printing catalogs specializing in bullfighting prints, posters, bills, tickets, etc. 40 leaves (80pp) with some items such as Prospectos & Billetes displayed as partially tipped on. The glue of the binding of this copy has dried and is separated from the binding. Several plates (leaves) also loose because of the dried glue. Still a remarkable item which, because of the fine condition of the plates, we grade overall "good", and recommend for anyone interested in the print/graphics of bullfighting in Spain.
