Washington DC: Gov't Printing Office & Smithsonian, 1886. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. 1st printing. Original octavo cloth. 264pp + 939pp. Illustrated with plates of Catlin drawings of American Indians. Owner's signature on front paste down. It is really quite impossible to try to detail all of the information in this book and to describe the remarkable Catlin drawings. Added to that are the maps, all present, including the large and valuable color folding map of Indian Territory, chock full of detail. In good condition, but we note that because of the thickness of the book, some signatures pull a bit when opened. Boards show some wear, but not excessively with a little fraying at head and toe of spine. Very scarce.

Lincoln: Univ of Nebraska Pr, 1983. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Folio blue cloth, gilt-stamped. 23 pages of introductory material. 126 map plates. Among the most sought of modern volumes on the expedition. This copy with moderate fading & a few minor spots & superficial scuffs on the front cover. Back cover has a wide band of fade running vertically 4 3/4" in from the spine. Yes, the spine is likewise moderately faded. Minor scuffs to back cover as per front cover. Priced accordingly. Internally fine.

George F. Cram, Chicago, 1889, 1889. Hardcover. Very Good+. Small folio or large quarto gilt-stamped & decorated cloth. 268pp. Illustrated with colored charts & other images. Tables. Index. Maps all present & in great shape, including facing maps of Indian Territory & a "Map of the Oklahoma Country in the Indian Territory" (Unassigned Lands) which would, 22 days after copyright, become the location of the first territorial run. Actual maps sizes inside the borders are about 9 1/2" x 11 1/2". Condition: maps & text block near fine to fine condition. Covers have some blotches, soft corners, & are frayed at the base of the spine. The patterned endpapers have edge tears. The hinges are broken, but the binding is still tight & the covers are not falling off. A scarce, complete atlas with all the states & territories to date of publication, as well as world maps.

Topeka: Kansas State Historical Soc, 1961. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Good. 1st printing. Gilt-decorated folio cloth. 104pp. Illus. Notes and Acknowledgments. Gift inscription on blank verse of ffep from the "Advertising Club of Wichita." A remarkable achievement and key resource for research. Most vintage maps reproduced are in b/w, but the frontispiece map, the endpaper maps, and at least one other are in color. Fine in actually vg dj with some wear to edges & short tears. A bit of staining.

Thus on a given page's map you will find pheasant, raccoon, bunny rabbits, coyotes, wolves, or fox, grouse, squirrels, white-tailed deer, bobcat, black bear, and various fishes in the adjacent Great Lakes. The front cover is yellow, orange, red, blue, and green & is illustrated with a fisherman & a hunter. In the middle is an arrowhead emblem with a Native American in it painting pictographs on a cliff side. Inside front cover: photos. Contents are not world maps, but "States,Territories, & Provinces" (of Canada). Small owner's stamp on title page of "Louis Zahn, Town Rolling, Langlade Co, Wis." (near where your bookseller used to live). Includes map of Indian Territory (1 page text; 1 page map). A few spots on back cover. A vg, bright copy. Very scarce.

Alaska is included. Nice map & information on Indian Territory An excellent reference. Upper cover corners very slightly bumped, else fine. No dj as issued. Oversized.

Well, a page lists the railroads, and the populations are printed on all the pages of counties, etc. Index includes list of creeks, mountains, & peaks, even lakes & rivers. So it will be of some use to someone. Vg copy if sans map. And very scarce anyway.
