No additional printings. 154 pages plus index. Decorated endpapers; all edges marbled. The play, Wessel's most famous work, occupies the first 85 pages, followed by 29 poems. Bookplate of Norwegian-American collector Herman Gimmestad to the front pastedown, otherwise unmarked. The cloth shows only a hint of edgewear with just a touch of light foxing to the spine. A clean, tight copy. Uncommon edition. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall

Bookplate of Scandinavia collector Herman Gimmestad is present on the inside of the front cover. Hinges tight, Undated, but research shows this was published in 1916.

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1926. Reprint . Hardcover. Very Good+/Fair. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Bound in green cloth with small title appliques to the cover and spine. Harper code M-C, December 1928. Signed and inscribed by the author, and dated 1930. Two leaves corner-creased but now straightened, otherwise just a hint of edgewear. The dust wrapper is nearly complete but in two pieces, separated at the left side through the border design. The mylar sleeve holds it together nicely. The only chip is a small one at the head of the spine. Slight toning on the endpapers opposite the jacket flaps. A clean, tight copy. Remember - all Harper firsts from 1922 on are stated, with a letter code for the appropriate year.

Second printing (andet oplag), stated. Corresponding 1913 dates to the title and copyright pages, so this reprint was issued in the first year of publication. With a photograph of the author as a frontispiece, tissue guard intact. Much of the volume remains uncut. The rear wrap carries advertisements for three other Caspari titles. The wraps are edgeworn and rubbed, with small tears along the upper edges. Excepting an old penciled price to the front wrap, the volume is unmarked. An uncommon title. Indianapolis: The Bowen-Merrill Co., 1897. Hardcover. Very Good. R. B. Gruelle. Two-tone green cloth with titles stamped in gilt. 90 pages with 6 illustrations. Matching dates (1891) to title and copyright pages, but 1897 to the publisher's catalogue at the rear. With a 30-line handwritten poem entitled "Spring" and the author's initials (JWR) to the verso of the front endpaper and the half-title. The poem is actually an early version of "When the Green Gits Back in the Trees". The poem would be added to later editions of this work, but does not appear in this volume. This version has "In the spring" in the first line, as opposed to "In spring" in the published version. Several words in this version were changed in the published version to reflect Riley's use of dialect. For example, Riley's use of the word "swet" in line 24 of the published version is "sweat" here. Rasmus Anderson was the founder of the Department of Scandinavian Studies at the University of Wisconsin, the oldest such program in the United States. Text is entirely in English.
