Cloth. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 1st edition, 1st printing. A Very Good copy. 8vo., LIV pp. grey cloth, lacking the dust jacket. The spine is is a bit sunned/browned, with some light soiling on the rear board. A sticker was removed from the upper right corner of the front board. Owner's inscription on FFEP. A Very Good copy.

Hardcover. Condition. Very Good-. Unauthorized or pirated edition by the printer of the original, first edition . The last edition that was authorized by Wilde for Smithers to print was dated 1899, later unauthorized editions also show that date. Probably printed in 1904 based on 1904 gift inscription on FFEP. Soiling to boards. Backstrip of spine has tears along the hinges, particularly at the bottom. Binding is nonetheless firm. Clean interior with light offsetting to pastedowns.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine/Fine. The Poets of Great Britain Complete from Chaucer to Churchill, 109 volumes. Believed to be the second (2nd) edition. Engraved additional pictorial title in each volume, 48 engraved portraits, contemporary tree calf gilt, roll-tool borders to sides, flat spines in six compartments, marbled endpapers, and green and red morocco lettering and number labels. Interior pages are clean with very little foxing. Volumes are in Fine condition with little wear with one exception. The original volume 95 is missing and has been replaced by volume 95 from the 1807 reprint edition published by Cadell, Davies and Samuel Bagster. The front board of this replacement volume is detached. Edinburgh, at the Apollo Press, [for John Bell], [1778-1784]. A beautiful set comprising the work of approximately 50 poets.

Near Fine. 6 drawings, Extensive design and letter decoration, quarter dark green fine grain book linen backed grey-green paper over boards, One of last of Keats' poems. There is a lengthy background on the poem by Edmund Gosse an English critic. Each page has been decorated or illustrated by American illustrator and publisher, Ralph Fletcher Seymour (1876-1966). Some light rubbing to top and bottom of spine. Light soiling to front board. Ownership bookplate to front endpaper.

Has a charming ownership inscription that includes a poem about borrowing and lending books. Inside pages have pinhole from page 25 to 83, one page repaired with tape, and some pages have browning to the edges. Some light foxing and occasional spots.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Inscribed twice by the United States' youngest founding father, George Walton. 400 pages plus index and "List of Books Lately Published." Original 1732 brown leather 5-ribbed binding. Hogarth engravings appeared first in 1726. Nine (9) total plates, including the frontispiece. This 1732 edition features clear, sharp impressions of the plates, unlike some of the later editions. The frontis plate of "Mr Samuel Butler" is by J Van der Gucht, (sculptor). Four Hogarth plates. One Van der Gucht plate, with additional folding plates. Miscellaneous chapter embellishments throughout. Each of the Three Parts separately titled, with Part III printed for B Motte [1732]. Light, scattered foxing. A beautiful binding. Maud Muller is a poem about a beautiful maid named Maud Muller. One day, while harvesting hay, she meets a judge from the local town. Each is smitten with the other. The judge thinks that he would like to be a local farmer married to Maud, while she thinks that she would like to be the wealthy judge's wife.
Neither voices these thoughts, however, and both the judge and the maiden move on. The judge marries a woman of wealth whose love for him is based on his riches. Maud Muller marries a young uneducated farmer. Throughout the rest of their lives, each remembers the day of their meeting and remorsefully reflects on what might have been.
