Description:
AS NEW! Never used and never read. This is an easy-to-read and Illustrated Bible Background Commentary. The editors write this about this volume which they call "a Bible background commentary": "Our goal is to offer a reading and interpretation of the text informed by what we regard as the most relevant historical information. For many in the church, this commentary will serve as an important entry point into the interpretation and appreciation of the text. For other more serious students of the Word, these volumes will provide an important supplement to many of the fine exegetical, expository, and critical available." The written information has been supplemented by hundreds of photographs, maps, charts, artwork and other graphics to help the reader better understand the world of the New Testament.

This copy is one of the finest quality books online--AS NEW!
This is a beautiful 168-page hardbound 1ST Edition of this scarce and important Old Testament Bible commentary giving verse-by-verse exposition. Dr. Mays is both scholarly and generally considered conservative. This book is part of the critically acclaimed, The Old Testament Library series, by the Westminster Press. A general introduction is provided along with a bibliography, followed by verse-by-verse commentary. The Book of Amos was likely written between 760 and 753 B.C. Amos is a shepherd and a fruit picker from the Judean village of Tekoa when God calls him, even though he lacks an education or a priestly background. Amos' mission is directed to his neighbor to the north, Israel. His messages of impending doom and captivity for the nation because of her sins are largely unpopular and unheeded, however, because not since the days of Solomon have times been so good in Israel. Amos' ministry takes place while Jeroboam II reigns over… Read More

You will walk through the most exhilarating adventure of all time when you read this book as you examine the expeditions throughout the centuries. History comes alive! This 275-page paperback is packed with illustrations throughout. How could Noah's Ark have survived 50 centuries on an ice-covered mountain in Eastern Turkey? Could it have withstood the ravages of time to bear witness to the truth of the Biblical account? Throughout the millennia and down to the present day, men have pondered these questions. Now authors Tim LaHaye and John Morris delve deeply into the mass of accumulated evidence. All the facts have been included, along with satellite photos, careful discussion and evaluation. The conclusions are fascinating. Includes a rather extensive and helpful Index. FIRST EDITION, 1976, 2nd printing.

This is basically a new book; never read! An amazingly well preserved 1st edition, 5th printing 1979, copy written in 1974; 189 page paperback with Notes at the end + a multi-page complete Bibliography. This description is provided on the back cover: "Sweeping through Christianity in recent years has been the pervasive charismatic movement. With it has come an emphasis on the work of the Holy Spirit, and particularly on the baptism of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit. In this comprehensive study, Dr. Unger examines these two closely related subjects in the light of biblical truth. He exposes many of the errors and misconceptions of the modern charismatic movement as he opens whole new areas of thought on these important subjects for all believers. Beginning with a short history of the rise of the charismatic movement, Unger proceeds to examine the biblical evidence regarding this important theme. He points out the movement's misconceptions about the baptism of the Spirit and the doctrinal errors… Read More
