What an amazingly well preserved scholarly volume, reprinted in 1978 from the 1897 edition in the Twin Brooks Series. James Bickersteth Mayor's commentary is generally recognized as one of the finest works on the epistle of James of all time. He writes: "In the Introduction I have stated my reasons for believing this Epistle to be the earliest of the books of the New Testament, written probably in the fifth decade of the Christian era by one who had been brought up with Jesus from his childhood and whose teaching is in many points identical with the actual words of our Lord as recorded in the Synoptic Gospels." Those with a good command of Greek will benefit most from this commentary, but even those with no Greek should find the massive introduction of interest.

Scholarly, yet easy-to-read, Robertson provides verse-by-verse exposition of Philippians. The flyleaf states: "Dr. Robertson brings to the study of any New Testament passage the ripest Greek scholarship that the world knows. This amazingly like new, though lightly used, verse-by-verse exposition commentary, is a 430 page hardcover with an exhaustive Index that includes all the Greek words mentioned in this commentary, an extensive Dissertation on the Essenes at the end, and helpful marginal notes throughout. "It is reprinted in large clear type to make it more readable." This exceptionally well preserved reprint edition is the 5th printing in 1969 of the 1879 copy write by MacMillan and Company. This particular edition has the "Revised Text with Introduction, Notes and Dissertations." It is also part of the Classic Commentary Library Series. The Greek scholar Lightfoot, based his writing on the original Greek texts. His purpose in writing was to illustrate and develop the theological conception of the Person of Christ which underlies the Epistle to the Colossians.

This 212 page red leatherette hardback is a Limited Classical Reprint Library reprinted in 1978 by Klock & Klock Christian Publishers from the original manuscript that was copy written in 1906 by Macmillan and Company. The original Greek text of the Epistle to the Ephesians is at the top of the page and Westcott's commentary is at the bottom. There are numerous notes in the Addenda. The Index of Greek words is very complete. Goodreads states: "Brooke Foss Westcott was a British bishop, biblical scholar and theologian, serving as Bishop of Durham from 1890 until his death. He is perhaps most known for co-editing The New Testament in the Original Greek in 1881. These notes are an exegesis on each verse from the Greek text."

This title was published in the series Scriptorum Classicorum Bibliotheca Oxoniensis. This is a collection of Sophocles' writings. Sophocles was born c. 496 BC, in Colonus, near Athens, Greece, and died in 406. Along with Aeschylus and Euripides, Sophocles is one of classical Athens' three great tragic playwrights. The best known of his 123 dramas is "Oedipus the King" which is included in this volume.
The author/editor, Alfred Chilton Pearson, was an English classical scholar. Copywritten in 1924, 1964 printing. Oxford Classical Texts Oct (Scriptorum Classicorum Bibliotheca Oxoniensis); approximately 404 pages.
