Interview with Eva Stern of E M Stern

When did you get started in bookselling?
1999 I owned Heartland Digs and finds and sold with you until 2007 when they closed the building and i was the last one out. I have had them stored until this last weekend and look forward to selling again on Biblio.
What drew you to bookselling?
I don't know
Did you have any mentors in becoming a bookseller?
What are your specialties as a dealer?
I have old, antiquarian, rare and autographed books, among some others like text, etc.
What's the most amazing book you've ever sold?
There has been quite a few. I have some awesome books and sooooo very old.
What is your favorite part of being a bookseller?
Getting paid .... lol
Do you have an open storefront or have you in the past?
I did have up until 2007 now I don't and am retired, except from this. I had around 70,000 books for 9 years until the closed the downtown building. I had the website for years, also.
If so, do/did you have any bookstore pets?
Do you mean the 4 legged kind? lol If so yes .... Have finished 46 Champions. I have now become the loving human of the California Spangled Cat.
What is the funniest / strangest / scariest thing that ever happened in your store?
Lots of things .... I am not known for giving a few quips now and then.
What is your favorite bookshop (other than your own)?
What do you personally like to read? Collect?
Bios and historical bios.
What's your favorite book you personally own? Would you sell it, if the price were right?
Cumanda .... Given to me by Ozzie and perhaps, but would require some thinking.
What one book would you buy if price were no object?
If you were stranded on a desert island and could bring three books, what would they be?
I have no answer to this but I sure can think of the animals .... lol As an after thought, I add $2.50 for insurance on all the books. For Protection. However I pay for the postage.
