This German version (first edition thus) is illustrated with photographs of the vehicles and engines etc, and with fold-out technical diagrams. Large octavo in size (253 mm high). Condition notes: Small bump to bottom edge of front board, otherwise as new. The folding diagrams are in excellent condition.

Manchot; preface by Colonel the Master of Sempill. Presumed first edition. Condition notes: A battered and bruised copy, although binding is sound and firm. Much rubbing and wear to boards, top of spine strip frayed, missing front free end paper, library label remnants to rear paste down, rear end paper torn, fore-edges soiled and bruised, paper age-toned, staining (a patch about 1 cm by .5 cm) to gutter margin of some later pages, with the source (unidentifiable) still adhering to one of the plates.

Green cloth covered boards, faded green titles to spine, coloured frontispiece, coloured and black and white plates, 90 pages. This little book was written in the early years of the 1939-1945 war by a Chinese artist who found himself living in London and under the travel restrictions placed on aliens at the time. Thus, most of the illustrations were painted from memory. They are all landscapes, views of places in the Yorkshire Dales, drawn or painted in the Chinese style. There are also some plates of Chinese characters. Condition notes: Foxing to endpapers, a little spotting to the half title, but pages thereafter clean and unmarked. Plates are in clean, bright condition. Some spotting to the fore-edges of the text block. Boards rubbed and a little bumped. There are no library markings, although there is a reinforced suspension hole in the spine strip.
