'Long Journey to the Border' is the incredible story of New Zealand author and heroic soldier, John Alan Edward Mulgan (1911-1945). Mulgan received his tertiary education at Auckland University, New Zealand, and Merton College, Oxford, England. With war inevitable in Europe, he joined the Territorial Army in 1938 and rose through the ranks. He saw action at El Alamein alongside the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Later he joined the S.O.E. and was sent to Greece to coordinate guerilla action against German forces, receiving the Military Cross for his actions. Later still he oversaw aid to Greek allies.
