Sewn lettered wrappers, the upper wrapper exhibiting some unsightly discolouration, and also a touch of very light spotting and a little creasing to the yapped fore edge. Faint trace of (probably contemporary) former owner details neatly inked to the head of the upper wrapper. A nice bright copy, particularly crisp internally, but lacking the original mailing envelope. A new edition of Kermit Roosevelt's Great War memoirs, originally published in 1919 under the title 'War in the Garden of Eden'. 8vo. 170pp. Blue cloth lettered in gold at the spine. With a portrait frontispiece, one double-spread map and nineteen photographs by the author. A fine copy in fine dust wrapper. Roosevelt was appointed an honorary captain in the British Army in August 1917. He was attached to the 14th Light Armoured Motor Battery of the Machine Gun Corps, but in order not to risk his life he was transferred and made an officer in charge of transport. He swiftly mastered spoken and written Arabic and was awarded a Military Cross on August 26, 1918. He committed suicide in Alaska in June 1943..
