New York: Apeda, 1920. Original Photographs . Paper. 2 very nice original 8" x 10" photograph portraits of the silent screen comedian Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle who is most remembered today for the murder trial that ruined his life and career even though after 3 trials he was acquitted of all charges. Arbuckle was a major star only second in popularity to Chaplin, but after the scandal he was finished in movies. In the early 30's he started to make films again but his bad luck continued with him dying at the early age of 1946 in 1933. The first portrait is a close-up of him taken by the famous photo studio Apeda which I would date around 1920. The photo has wear: some creasing, chipping and a few old tape mends to the verso. The 2nd portrait printed on heavy stock paper is a full length one of Arbuckle doing a soft shoe with his bowler hat balanced on his extended arm. New York City: The New York Public Library, 2012. First Edition . Large Folded Paper. Large folded 4pg. brochure that was given out at the library's exhibition of silent film publicity. Illustrated with many photos, and publicity material. Fine.

Florida: Norman Studios, 1928. Pressbook . Oversize Paper. A rare beautiful 14" x 22" original 4pg. pressbook for a forgotten "all colored cast" silent film. The movie was " A thrilling epic of the oil fields" that starred Lawrence Criner, Kathryn Boyd & Steve "Peg" Reynolds a one-legged actor all of whom had appeared in the earlier 1926 Norman film "The Flying Ace." Based on the true story of John Crisp and his fight to secure oil despite the efforts of a crooked drilling contractor, the movie was filmed in the "all colored city" of Tatums Oklahoma and used many of the residents as extras. The pressbook features a nice yellow colored front cover that is a repro. of the window card. Inside is illustrated with blue tinted photos and advertising iteams. The back cover is text and includes press stories and other advertising ideas. Two old tape mends to the back cover, but this rare item is in fine bright condition. Folded. Fine.

Atlantic City: MagicImage Film Books, 1988. First Edition . Oversize cloth with Dustjacket. A beautiful book on the lost silent horror film "A Blind Bargain" that starred the great Lon Chaney. This is the 2nd volume in the Forrest J. Ackerman Archives Series, and is as a complete record of the film as possible. Includes many photos, stills and the complete script along with many historical photos and memorablia. There is a minor binding imperfection (a line) on the front cover which is lightly mirrored to the front panel of the dustjacket, otherwise the book is pristine and unread. Fine/fine

Wonderful novel about loss and the grief the main character of the book feels after losing his family in a terrible accident and his search for a mysterious silent screen actor and his own healing. One of Auster's best works. Jacket blurbs by Peter Carey, Jonathan Lethem and Michael Ondaatje. Fine/fine. Laid in is a 4pg.promo from the dvd release of the inner life of martin frost. Also included is a 2nd printing paper copy of "City Of Glass" which is the graphic novel edition of the prize winning Auster novels. The black and white artwork is by David Mazzucchelli. Fine. Sold as a collection only.

Hollywood: Metro Goldwyn Mayer, 1929. Original Still . Paper. Superb original and rare scene still for the second film to win an Oscar for Best Picture and the first all talking picture to do so. The film is the classic tale of two sisters working in vaudeville who fall in love with the same song and dance man. The film starred Bessie Love who was terrific in it and received an Oscar nomination for best actress losing out to the well placed Mary Pickford and Anita Page. The still is of one of the elaborate (for its time) musical numbers of girl chorus and the two female stars whose faces are faint. Set against an amazning ornate floral backdrop. Small rubber stamp caption on verso and tiny corner chip to left white margin. Beautiful and fine.

Various. Paper. This is a nice large b&w ad from a Swedish film mag. from 1924 for Griffith's "The White Rose" which has a nice illus. of a rose, along with photos of Mae Marsh & Ivor Novello. Also a nice small color ad for Triangle Plays (films) from a very early film magazine. The ad is illus. with full color decorative artwork along with the names of Griffith, Ince & Sennett. There are small pieces missing from the edges, crease & mends to both ads but both are still attractive, rare & worthwhile. Some restoration work needed.
