Some fading and light wear to spine ends. Very Good. Seth Eastman. Quarto (7-1/2" x 10-3/4") bound in the publisher's gilt-decorated gray cloth, all edges gilt. Illustrated with 21 fine steel-engraved plates, mainly of the Sioux and the Pueblo, after Seth Eastman, the author's husband and one of the finest artists of the frontier American West. The Eastmans depict in words and pictures from their own firsthand experiences the life and manners of Native Americans in the 1840s. Howes E18.

Light to heavy foxing throughout, mostly marginal, with some plates completely clean and others heavily foxed, most with just a spot or two of marginal foxing. The front cover of the first volume is detached with much of the spine lacking; the second volume's binding is fine. Overall a Good, solid set. W. H. Bartlett. Two quarto (8-1/4" x 10-1/2") volumes bound in publisher's full heavily gilt-decorated dark brown morocco leather. Complete with a map, a portrait, 2 engraved title pages, and 116 steel-engraved views, all with tissue guards, by W. H. Bartlett.

Covers rubbed with wear to corners and spine ends with text block detached from covers in the third volume. Good, incomplete set with handsome plates. Two (of 3) folio (9-3/4" x 12-1/2") volumes bound in publisher's full gilt-decorated black morocco leather. Volumes 2 and 3 only. Illustrated with 2 steel- engraved title pages and 39 (of 60) fine steel-engraved views.

Two quarto (8-1/4" x 10-1/2") volumes bound in one full gilt-decorated morocco leather volume. Illustrated with two steel-engaved title pages, three portraits, and 84 engraved views and engravings after paintings. Many of the engravings are views by W. H. Bartlett. There is no printed title page, though there are two engraved title pages. No information could be found for this particular title which is similar to Wilson's book issued the next year.

London & Paris: Fisher, Son, & Co, [1840]. First Edition. Hardcover. Plates very clean with tissue guards present. Binding tight with possible repair; hinges rubbed. Very Good. An early issue with just Fisher listed as publisher. Two quarto (8-1/4" x 10-3/4") volumes bound together in contemporary half green morocco leather and cloth with morocco corners, all edges gilt. Illustrated with 2 engraved title pages and 71 fine steel-engraved plates.

Very Good. Two quarto (8-1/4" x 11") volumes bound in plum embossed cloth with polished green calf leather spines and corners, matching morocco spine labels. Illustrated with engraved title pages in each volume, 106 steel-engraved plates after Bartlett, and a folding lithograph map of Switzerland.

Owner name of Harriet Mosely dated 1835 on the front blank of each volume with an armorial bookplate on the front endpaper of each volume. Plates bright and clean. Some rubbing to the hinges which are just a little tender with slightly pulled headcaps. Near Fine. W. Tombleson. Two small quarto (5-3/4" x 9-1/2") volumes bound in gilt-decorated and blind-stamped full black morocco leather. Illustrated with 2 engraved title pages and 137 fine steel-engraved views as well as a long folding panoramic map of the Rhine from Cologne to Mainz in the first volume and a large folding color map of the Upper Rhine in the second volume.
