Quarto (6-7/8" x 10-1/4") bound in Verona with a backstrip of wine-colored Italian linen stamped in gold and boards covered in a decorative wood-blocked paper hand made by Antonio Gabrielli of Montecatini, 512 pages. Planned at the Officina Bodoni and printed at the Stamperia Valdonega by Giovanni Mardersteig. The Elizabethan translation of Philemon Holland, emended by Moses Hadas who has also written an introduction. Illustrated with a dozen full-color paintings and a medallion portrait of each of the twelve Caesars by Salvatore Fiume. Copy #263 of 1500 SIGNED by the artist and by the printer on the colophon page. Suetonius is a primary source for the lives of the Caesars including the infamous Caligula.
