A 33 1/3 rpm vinyl record album with the desirable and famous poster designed by Milton Glaser, one of the most recognized images of post-war American pop culture. Printed in large quantities and inserted in record albums, it seems that after being pinned up in college dorm rooms, many were discarded and consequently have become scarcer. This one is in Fine shape. Auction records for this occasionally approach one thousand dollars.

About Very Good. Folio (8" x 12-1/2") bound in 19th century half brown leather with leather corners and marbled boards; [2], [516], 14 pages. The first volume of this scarce periodical containing a title page, 117 four-page issues, 12 supernumerary numbers, and an extensive index covering the period of 13 February 1708 to 25 March 1709. Without the two 12-page quarterly issues. The periodical would stop publication in 1711. Edited by Aaron Hill and Marshall Smith, with probable contributions from John Gay, John Arbuthnot, and Samuel Garth, among others. Boston: Isaiah Thomas and Ebenezer T Andrews, 1795. First Edition. Hardcover. New endpapers but retaining old endpapers as well. Light browning to text. Near Fine. Oblong quarto (10-3/4" x 8-3/4") in modern 3/4 deep navy blue morocco leather retaining early silk-finished blue boards; [v], vi - xxxvi, [1] - 71, [1 - index] pages. Divided into three parts, the first devoted to certain theories of music, the second giving observations on singing and a dictionary of musical terms, and the third comprising bits of sacred music. Among the 72 compositions present, 6 are composed by Americans and 55 are first American printings, including the popular Christmas carol “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.” The printer Isaiah Thomas was the first to import music types to America in 1784. Before that all music printed in America was printed from engraved plates.

[Memphis, TN]: [Beale Street Development Corporation], 1980. First Edition. Softcover. Vertical crease down the center. Very Good. Illustrated brochure (8-1/4" x 8-1/2") with a pictorial cover. SIGNED on the front cover by Lillie Mae Glover as Ma Rainey and by Evelyn "The Whip" Young who adds "alto Sax." Glover, who ran away from home at 13 to sing in a traveling medicine show, performed as Ma Rainey II since 1939, after the legendary blues singer who died that year and whom she emulated. She died in 1985. Young, who became a professional musician at the age of 14, was known as "The Whip" because she played the saxophone with such vigor. She played tenor sax and arranged harmony on B. B. King's first major hit, "Three O'Clock in the Morning," and also performed with Little Richard, Memphis Slim, and others. She died in 1990.

Rodgers, best known for his collaborations with lyricists Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II, was a composer and lyricist of more than 900 songs and 40 Broadway musicals. His many awards include an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, a Tony, and a Pulitzer prize.
