New York: George H. Doran, 1924. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 1st edition [GHD symbol under copyright date], 8vo, purple cloth with gilt illustration and titles, 434 pages, illustrated with b/w photographs throughout, index. Condition is VERY GOOD / no jacket: spine is lightly sunned, internally clean and tight, one flaw: there is a 1" tear through pages 213-293 at the bottom spine edge, the source of which is completely baffling (a knife maybe?). It does not affect any text or images, and otherwise the book is a lovely addition to your essential London collection. As the author says in her first chapter: "Each man, they say, discovers his own London. I suppose there is no city boasts so many discoverers, nor any city loved for so many different reasons so logically sustained, nor any place to which visitors so various can claim kinship. London, in a sense, belongs to us all." (p17)
