Condition: VERY GOOD: light rubbing around edges, corners slightly bumped and just starting to be exposed, tiny spot on top page edge, endpapers have very light and faint foxing, internally clean and tight - a nice copy of this charming book.

The story had been published privately for the Wedgwood - Darwin families only. This is an undated (circa 1965) reissue of that 1939 publication. 8vo, blue cloth with gilt decorated spine, 70 pages, color and b/w illustrations throughout by Gwen Raverat. Condition is VERY GOOD+ book / VERY GOOD+ jacket: book has slight rubbing to spine extremities, fait stain to top page edge, appears unread; jacket has slight edgwear, a few faint stains to rear panel. A lovely book, a charming tale about a little princess and the magic ring which made her able to talk to birds.

Blank lined pages for birthday notes. Originally published in 1880, this is a reprint edition from the mid 1970s or later - price on jacket is $2.95. Condition: NEAR FINE book / NEAR FINE jacket: book is like new (there were two penciled names that have been erased leaving no markings); jacket is like new excepting it is clipped on the lower front flap (but not the price), very light toning to edges. A lovely copy.

Condition is VERY GOOD- / no jacket: spine is lightly sunned, a few faint marks to the boards, front endpapers tearing at hinge, rear hinge just starting with webbing exposed but book remains tight, internally clean throughout.

Not the Winston edition with the pictorial paste-on, this is copyright 1937 with no additional printings noted. 8vo, red cloth with black illustration and gold shield with black titles, repeated on spine, blue and turquoise illustrated endpapers, color frontispiece, 10 other 2-color full-page illustrations and additional text drawings throughout, 274 pages to include 6 pages of notes at end, preface by Robert Lawson. Condition is VERY GOOD- / no jacket: rubbing to edges and corners, a few small tears at spine head, both front and read hinge are cracked with webbing exposed but the textblock remains tight and is internally clean throughout. Better than all this sounds, and a delightful tale by Twain with Lawson's incomparable illustrations. Uncommon binding.

Condition: VERY GOOD: slight edgewear, crease to bottom corner of front cover.

VERY GOOD- condition /no jacket: light rubbing to spine extremities, board edges and corners are just opening, light scratching and faint soiling to rear board, internally clean and tight throughout, all illustrations all present with four of them just starting to pull away from the hinge (though they look as though they were bound in this way), and one has a very tiny tear at the spine tail hinge. A very nice copy of this lovely Peat book.

Condition: VERY GOOD - : light rubbing all around, spine tail has a ¼" chip with a 1"tear, crease along bottom edge of front cover, rubbing along interior spine, old sticker residue on front cover; the lovely pop-up is in very nice condition.

No publications date noted, but WorldCat says two editions were published in 1890 in France. 4to, stiff illustrated wraps, French text, [12] pages, linen cloth, illustrations by color lithography, front endpapers the alphabet A-Z in capital letters, rear endpaper has letters in lower case, each page provides a poem [in French] and color illustrations of various circus acts: acrobats, flying trapezes, bicycles, chariot races, dogs acts, elephants, horses, seals, kangaroos, pigs, ostriches, lions and tigers and bears (oh my!), ending with a yack and a zebra, and all including the various circus performers. Condition: VERY GOOD with some edgewear, crease to front cover, the spine is rubbed with the paper overlay on the canvas rubbed off in a few places, internally clean. A delightful and very rare piece of Circus and ABC lore.

A lovely copy, rare in this condition.
