Description:
1961: Caxton, 1961. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair-/Fair-. Sound x-library/reading copy, all the usual marks, some felt penned over. Binding good, boards clean. Jacket has some chips out, tears, other wear, actually looks pretty agedly decent in it's mylar wrapper. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*

NY: Grosset & Dunlap, 1939. 5th or later Edition . Hardcover. Good/Fair. Being G&D we know we have a reprint. Still, with the Wiese/Pinner illustrations and a charming, though edge tattered jacket this one is incredibly cute. There is gift inscription and darkened area first endsheet from loosely laid in news clipping? I speculate. . .Text handsome, clean, boards green, illustrated with Bambi drawing. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. NY: Lothrop, Lee & Shepard, 1955. 1st Edition . Cloth Bound. Good/Good. Carl S. Junge. A possibly ex-library, jacketed (clipped) hardcover of this YA novel, apparently quite scarce and ditto for its Jkt. Book is fairly sound, but I noticed a bit of smudge and a page (161) with trace waviness. The jkt. has a good bit of edge chip, some smudge, but largely OK in its wrapper. Done in bright red, and therefore prone to light fade, but sharp. Owner name penned FEP, 237 pages. X-lib. scars minimal. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*

Chicago: Moody Press, 1958. First U.S. . Hardcover. Good -/Good-. A decent hardcover, a bit of cocking (spine slant). Clean, may have been opened wider at title page than wise, as the gutter seems a trifle compromised. All this said, and with its age darkening, the text and binding have held up well. The jacket, with its short tears and creasewear has some goofy charm. Will ship in new mylar wrapper. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Description:
NY: Rand McNally, 1952. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Fiore and Jackie Mastri. Book and jacket both splendid. Jacket though price clipped has been preserved for years in a clear mylar wrapper, which has eliminated all but a hint of edge age browning. I gently erased a sales price (1st endsheet) and tiny numbercode (last pastedown) and the resulting tiny erasures are barely visible. Original bookstore sales label last pastedown. This book has the R/M Edition statement (1952) under which is an 'A'. While it does not match The McBrides statement precisely the A seems to lock down its status as the 1st appearance. Not utterly flawless but nearly so. A hint of bindery darkening at first/ last gutters, as made. Will be stored in acid free mylar now. Many years ago I got a damaged fine art Book of Norman Rockwell, from which I removed perhaps 10 scouting plates, large, some b & w, many color they are with this book and sold with it. They are undamaged and accompanied with…

NY: Mcloughlin Brothers, 1904. Uncertain, Possibly First . Hardcover. Poor/No Jacket. Perhaps the roughest item in our inventory. Hard covers have stains and abrasions, bumping. front and back hinges tape repaired, and not properly, may be masking tape. Gift inscription penned first endsheet. Text is complete and has considerable aged charm, but stains and the odd short tear along with age darkening are present. The above should not be presumed to list all faults and the book is sold as a reading copy only. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. NY: Grosset & Dunlap, 1953. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good-. Blue tweed boards, Nancy blue silhouette endsheets (not digger)- flap lists 30 titles with Velvet Mask last. Dark blue Nancy front board, wraparound jacket w/ Nancy holding magnifying glass on spine. Velvet Mask is also last listed last in books interior summary. Secret of the Jade Ring (Dana) and Forbidden Chest (Bolton) are final listed titles on back flap and back panel respectively. 211 pages. 2 odd flaws are noted. The verso of the 2nd endsheet had what I take to be a production roller mark, pale brownish, mild, in attempting to lightly erase (art gum) the soft text experienced a hint of abrasion. This is the blank sheet prior to the 1/2 title page. Parenthetically, only the 2nd time in 20 years I have experienced this. . . Additionally, I surmise that the last endsheet was inadvertently glued at its forward extremity to the paste down. The PD is the fixed final sheet. I was able to dislodge it with much gentle…

Frederick A. Stokes, 1891. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Poor/No Jacket. This listing in now for two books, as a copy of an interesting MG title has turned up. Both will ship at our customary domestic media mail price. We understand that Maud is actor Humphrey Bogarts mother. The illustrations are all here and retain their gilded-age charm in spite of many isssues. Book fully dis-bound at fr. hinge, splitting at back bottom, other gutters sound, excepting 2nd to last page which seeems to have cracked mildly at the gutter, top to bottom, due to brittleness. Moisture has left a mild beige cloudlike stain at the books fore-edge showing into the text to a depth of @ 3/4", and not is not nearly as disfiguring as it sounds. The body of the illustrations and text and are not over run by the stain. We will be adding foto of cover, hopefully soon . The front cover's illustration has notable/scuff/stain, issues, board corner edges very bumped, fully worn thru, with a 1/2" section out upper corner,…

Description:
NY: Dodge, 1914. 2nd Edition . Hardcover. Good-/No Jacket. No author listed, publishing history very sketchy. 1900? Maybe, seems about right. I suspect this is a British produced text of Blackie(GB) original, same title, it does say printed in GB last page, but, Dodge NY copyright page, no date. Content/ illustrators imply it was originally GB product. Golden board edges are quite chippy, luckily the interior text, but for the occasional smudge is unmarked, no crayon no pencil. Boards have the odd ink spot. NOTE: addl research shows as follows: the Blackie appeared in GB as late as 1913, the US product, 1914. This one? Possible. . . This fits better with the ages of the illustrators. The text is done in part by noted British book designer Alice Talwin Morris (nee Marsh), while she is not credited her name and initials appear regularly. Also illustrations by Angusine Macgregor and Lillian Govey are present if only sprinkled through the book. Fortunately they signed some of theirs, given the style I…
