The Grassy Stories by Margaret Tait is a collection of nine stories for chidren whose characters are presented as grasses and other flora found in the fields of Orkney. Margaret Tait was a pioneering filmmaker and now considered a leading figure in Britain's avant-garde film world of the 1950s and 60s. The book is in near perfect condition with only a very small tear to the top of the spine. The book is one of the 100 numbered copies featuring a hand-finished water colour painting by the author. From the Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh section B (Biology) Vol. LXVI - Part II (No 7). Robert Rendall was an extraordinary person who combined his work in the family drapery business with his interests in poetry, theology and conchology. His collection of seaweeds and shells is housed in the Stromness Museum. The book is in very good condition with no inscriptions.
