First Performances - The Syn-Ket and Moog Synthesizer in the 1960s [CD - MUSIC COMPACT DISC]

By John Eaton (composer)

Albany, New York: ELectronic Music Foundation, Ltd., 2007. [EMF CD 056] This CD of John Eaton's early music for synthesizers is a major historical event. It is an exceptional demonstration of early synthesizers, including the Syn-Ket, built in 1964 in Rome, Italy, by Paolo Ketoff, and an early Moog synthesizer. In April 1965 John Eaton performed his "Songs for R.P.B." at the American Academy in Rome, Italy, for piano, Syn-Ket, and soprano. // All of the music on the CD, and in fact almost all of Eaton's music since the 1960s, is microtonal. 'Thoughts on Rilke' (1966), is scored for two Syn-Kets and a reverberation plate. "Duet" (1967) is the first piece for both Moog synthesizer and Syn-Ket. "Blind Man's Cry" (1968) is a setting of a Symbolist poem by Tristan Corbiere. The "Concert PIece for Syn-Ket and Symphony Orchestra" (1966) is based on microtonal clusters and pulsing electronic sounds. The CD concludes with 'Blues Machine' (1968), and 'Bone Dry' (1968), in an engaging electronic jazz-rock style. NOTE: See my accompanying scan image of the Track List for more details. CONDITION: A New factory-sealed copy in pristine condition. Complimentary upgrade to securely-packed First Class shipping on domestic (USA) orders. . CD in Jewel Case. New (Very Fine). 5.5" x 5". Music Compact Disc.
