[PE] Perhaps the definitive edition of these ingratiating string trios by Johann Christian "the London Bach", here edited by Walter Hockner, who also provides a Preface (in German, English, and French). CONTENTS: Each Trio is in two sections. [I] Larghetto, Menuetto; [II] Andante, Menuetto; [III] Largo, Menuetto; [IV] Poco Adagio, Menuetto; [V] Largo, Menuetto; [VI] Largo, Menuetto. The parts: 14+14+11 pages. CONDITION: The three parts are in Fine "as new" condition - unmarked and uncreased, with no apparent shelf-wear. Their VG+ folio cover is likewise unmarked/increased, but has moderate shelf-wear. This handsome, rather scarce set is now in a clear, protective polypropylene bag with archival backing board.

All of Mendelssohn's music for string quartet, here persuasively performed by the Stuttgart-based Melos Quartett. CONTENTS: Please see my accompanying scan image of the Track Lists. Disc Timings: 71:48 + 57:07 + 69:44. CONDITION: Three Fine Minus CDs (CD 2 has some light scratches, not affecting playback) with Fine triple jewelcase, booklet, and tray inserts. Oslo, Norway: Norsk Musikkforlag, 1996. Side-Stapled Pages. Very Good. 11.75" x 16.5. A fascinating avant-garde chamber work with unique instrumentation - by the gifted Norwegian composer Gisle Kverndokk (b. 1967). This work for bass koto and string quartet (1995 - rev.1996) was commissioned by Tokyo koto virtuoso Reiko Kamata and employs extended techniques and some graphic notation. 17 large pages. (duration: ca. 15 minutes) CONDITION: Despite being rather heavily-marked up, I've graded this copy as Very Good, since the markings were evidently made by a koto player and are likely to be useful to others. The side-stapled pages are neatly tape-reinforced at the spine. Given its significant width, the score is folded vertically down the center and stored in a clear, protective polypropylene bag with archival backing board.

United Kingdom: BBC Music - Ars Musici, 2004. CD in Jewel Case. Fine/Fine. 5.5" x 5. BBC Vol.13 No.2. Magnificent performances of these quartets - from Beethoven's early and late periods. The Artemis Quartet, named after the Greek goddess of hunt and wilderness, is a German string quartet. The quartet was founded 1989 in Lübeck and is now Berlin-based. New York: Century Music pu Blishing. Sheet Music. Good. 9" x 12. Classic Duos, Series Three, # 464. An engaging transcription of Gounod's beautiful "meditation" on Bach's 1st Prelude. 8 pages. CONDITION: A quite respectable unmarked copy with moderate shelf-wear, trimmed edges, and spine-edge reinforcement (with near-invisible library archival tape) - now in a clear, protective polypropylene bag with archival backing board.

St. Paul, Minnesota, USA: Norkinshot Press, 2003. Plastic Comb with Card Covers. Fine. 8.5" x 11. Franz Kamin was a composer creating in the outer fringes of the global Avant Garde. Concerning this work, he stated: "Behavioral Drift II is a 'mass sound' continuum for twenty-one performers divided into three Performing ensembles and a Controlling Ensemble (which is also audible as part of the continuum). These ensembles are arrayed in various geometrical shapes which surround the audience. There is also a Narrator who reads an initiatory story ('I Suddenly Come to Visit...' or 'Black New York') which 'programs' the overall Mood of the performance." 44 pages. The stunning collaboration of two manic music masters, resulting in a unique sonic world. Its Liner Notes are in fact a haunting prose-poem by Cale. CONDITION: An excellent Very Good Plus LP record [not a CD!] in a Very Good Plus jacket (unmarked/uncreased, with light ring-wear on the back and a tiny spine-top corner clip). Here are six works written in the 1980s: Hymne to the Night (1985; piano/violin/cello), Three Nocturnes (1987; piano), String Quartet #1 (1988), Seven Lodeizen Songs (1989; soprano/piano), Capriccio (1988; violin/cello), and Poeme pour quatre saxophones (1981).
