Chinese Cultural Revolution papercut on red paper with paper backing, featuring a full-body portrait of Mao Zedong looking benevolently a few branches of plum blossom behind him. A poem of Chairman Mao cut in the style of Chinese calligraphy is featured on the left section. Very good copy, papercuts sheet measures 72.6 x 50cm. Included a handwritten poem by Mao Zedong titled 卜算子·咏梅 [Ode to the Plum Blossom - to the Tune of Pu Suan Tzu], created in December 1961. A re-creation based on 陆游 [Lu You]'s, a famous Southern Song Dynasty poet, popular poem of the same title "Ode to the Plum Blossom - to the Tune of Pu Suan Tzu". .

Five mimeographed stapled booklets, 26 x 18 cm, [26], [8], [50], [16], [24] pp (including wrappers) on folded sheets, 3 folding charts, text diagrams and tables, paper browning, some soiling and discolouration and occasional ink marking in the text, lower wrapper one booklet detached, but in still in sound condition. A set of unpublished mimeographed Japanese military documents containing detailed information about various parts of the Tapanuli Regency of Sumatra under Japanese occupation. The four separate volumes cover Tapanuli Regency in general, the town of Tarutun, Fort de Kock (Bukittingi) and the wider central west coast region of Sumatra. The volume on Tapanuli is dated August 1942, and the volume of Tarutun, October 1942, suggesting that these were compiled a few months after the Japanese invasion of Sumatra. A collection of 8 single sheet Minguo period real estate transfer contracts, seven are manuscript, one contract is printed with space allowed for hand written answers. Information included in the contracts are: sellers name, size of the land or numbers of the rooms, amount to be paid, witness's name, and broker's name (optional). Sheets are various sizes and in differing condition. The smallest sheet measures 33.2 x 51.6, the largest sheet measures 58 x 52cm. Some sheets are in very good condition, while others have tears, loss and browning. .

Large Chinese propaganda papercut on red paper with paper backing, shows Mao looking into the distance benevolently, a huge sun with its rays extending behind him. A poem written by Mao in calligraphy style lower section. Very good. Text in Chinese. 71.5 x 49.8cm. The Qijue poem was written in September 1961. The poem translates "Amid the growing shades of dusk stand sturdy pines, Riotous clouds sweep past, swift and tranquil. Nature has excelled herself in the Fairy Cave, On perilous peaks dwells beauty in her infinite variety." Qijue poem is one of the most common type of classical Chinese poems which consists of four verses and each verse includes seven characters. .

An image of Mao's head and collar is highlighted centrally and fits snugly into the sun, the bold rays extends behind him, drawing a clear analogy between the sun and Mao. Three sunflowers and a Chinese character "Loyalty" [忠] are featured under Mao's portrait. Very good. Blocks of text in Chinese lower section. Papercut measures 70.1 x 49.9cm. This papercut represents the phenomenon of Mao cult, one of the most visible feature of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Every one of the slogans on this papercut echo the theme of unconditional praise and admiration of Chairman Mao. Three propaganda slogans lower section translate as: "Boundless loyalty to the great leader Chairman Mao." "Boundless loyalty to the great Mao Zedong Thought." "Boundless loyalty to the Chairman Mao's revolutionary line." .

Issue no. 12 of this Chinese Cultural Revolution newspaper published by the No. 3 Reactionary Headquarter of Shanghai Work and Study Red Guards on September 8th 1967. Single sheet printed double side, minor creasing on corners otherwise very good. Text in Chinese. Sheet measures 27 x 38.4 cm. Issue no. 12 of 文革动态 "The Cultural Revolution Updates" reporting directives from the top leaders from Chairman Mao, speeches delivered by 周恩来 [Zhou Enlai] and 李富春 [Li Fuchun]. .

上海.[Shanghai].: 上海交通报社.[Shanghai jiao tong bao she].. 1968.. Issue numbers. 14 and 20 Cultural Revolution newspaper, edited by Shanghai Jiao Tong News Agency, published on 17 March 1968 and 19 April 1968. Each newspaper is 4 pages, evenly browned more heavily at folds, a good copy. Text in Chinese. Sheets measure 39.4 x 58.8cm. Issue no. 14 celebrates the upcoming first meeting of activists applying Mao Zedong Thought in Shanghai. Issue no. 20 features Chairman Mao's statement supporting African Americans' struggle against violence in the event of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. .

上海.[Shanghai].: 上海交通大学反到底兵团.[Shanghai jiao tong da xue fan dao di bing tuan]. 上海交大教育革命联络站.[Shanghai jiao tong da xue ge ming jiao yu lian luo zhan].. 1967.. 4pp Chinese Cultural Revolution newspaper jointly issued by the "Fight to the End" Corp and Education Revolution Liaison Station, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. A quotation from Chairman Mao is accompanied by three lines of propaganda slogans on the first page. This paper features Lin Biao and Chen Boda's directives on education reforms on the first two pages. Light even browning, little stained at staples, light wear generally good. Text in Chinese. 24.8 x 18.1cm. .

1978.. 12 brightly coloured hand stencils on mulberry paper presented loosely enclosed in the original card mulberry paper covered folder, stencilled title label upper cover. Folder measures 38.9 x 29.5cm, calendar sheets 37 x 28cm. Each month features an attractive stylised seasonal design. A little foxing on the lower margin of the sheet for January sheet and occasional light foxing on folder. Overall very good. Keisuke Serizawa (1895 - 1984) Japanese textile artist extraordinaire and leading member of the mingei movement, was honoured by Japanese authorities with the title "Living National Treasure" in 1956. His output was not limited to textiles alone publishing, amongst other items, screens, scrolls, fans, and curtains. Between 1946 and 1984 he published this strikingly beautiful series of hand stencilled calendars which even following his death his studio continued to publish for a further 4 years. .

Two issues of Chinese language daily newspaper covering reports of the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, published by Jiefang Daily Press on November 22nd, 1956 (issue no. 2710) and 23rd (issue no. 2711) in Shanghai. Black and white illustrations, each issue a single sheet printed on double sided, folded, complete. Small pin-holes along central folds with stain marks, occasional tear on folds, overall in very good condition. Text in Chinese language. Sheet measures 57 x 77.6cm. The Melbourne Olympic coverage is on Page 3 in both issues. Issue no. 2710 gives general information about soon to be opened ceremony in Melbourne, with more than 60 countries and regions athletes' participating. 上海.[Shanghai].: 中学运动.[Zhong xue yun dong].. 1967.. Issue no.3 of this Chinese Cultural Revolution tabloid-size newspaper published on 9 April 1967 by three Red Guards organisation in Shanghai education sector. Two sheets, 6pp, light even browning, horizontal crease, upper corner litle creased, still good. Text in Chinese. Sheet measures 39.2 x 25.3cm, 39.2 x 54.6cm. This issue is dedicated to criticism of Liu Shaoqi and his work "To Be a Good Communist". It also promotes the Rectification Movement and propaganda works "Rectify the Party's Style of Work” written in 1942. .

江西.[Jiangxi].: 中共江西省委办公厅. [Zhong gong Jiangxi sheng wei ban gong ting].. A broken run of special propaganda periodicals, written by the journalists from Xinhua News agency between 21 February 1979 and 11 March 1979, compiled by the General Office of Jiangxi Provincial Government. Pages in each vary between 4pp -12pp. Evenly browned with occasional foxing, small tears on edges issue no. 15, small pin-holes left edge suggesting the issues were bound together at one stage, generally good in wrappers. Text in Chinese. 26.1 x 18.7cm. The Self-defence War against Vietnam also known as the Sino-Vietnamese War took place on the borders between the two nations from 17 February to 16 March 1979. Editorials in this collection mainly exoll Chinese military victories in Yunnan and Guangxi provinces. Most issues also include news from the war front as well as the statements from international communities. .

[Kyoto].: Yamaka Toki Ishōbu]*. Yamaka Toki意匠部.. (Circa1965).. Large textile sample books. Six volumes in total (Volumes 4 to 9). Each volume contains about 90 textile samples, the volumes displaying over 600 samples in total. Most pages have two samples to a page though some have instead one large sample. A working set approximately 50 samples have been neatly removed, probably indicating this pattern was no longer available. Each volume has a price list at the rear and attractive silver mica flecked front paste downs. Although clearly a working set of sample books with most volumes in very good condition, the boards for volume 4 are soiled with a small section of the lower cover near the head of the spine missing. Volume 9 lacks half of two leaves and the lower cover has been cut causing the loss of lower 8cm to the back cover.
