DOLLS. (PAPER) HALLMARK DOLLS COLLECTOR'S ALBUM: DOLLS OF THE NATIONS. Hallmark Bros. 1948. Oblong 4to (13 x 10 1/2"), pictorial wraps, covers rubbed a bit and feathers on some doll hats a bit sparse else VG+ and complete. There are 16 double-sided paper dolls, however there are 2 Swiss and no Australia. Each doll is 6" high, representing various nations. The female dolls all have feathers in their hats, and each doll has a slot of its own. Inside each doll is printed material about the particular nation. Quite wonderful.

This is a lovely 9" paper doll with 4 outfits and 4 hats, housed in the original pictorial embossed folder. Light wear to the folder, dolls and outfits are Fine. The doll wears a pink and white underdress. Her 4 fancy gowns are beautifully chromolithographed in a variety of colors with much detail and the four hats match the dresses. Her 4 fancy outfits of gowns and coat are beautifully chromolithographed in a variety of colors with much detail and the four hats match the dresses. See Whitton: Raphael Tuck p.76, 80. Housed in the original pictorial box (box flaps flattened). Beautifully chromolithographed and in excellent condition. The doll wears a white frilly chemise with blue ribbon and has blonde hair. Her 4 costumes are: a green coat with fur muffler, a white fur coat, a blue sport outfit with lacross stick and a wedding gown. The hats match the dresses. Quite wonderful.

Offered here is the complete set of 48 water colored mock-ups of all 10 of the paper dolls and their costumes featured in the Little Colonel Doll Book published by Page in 1910 (15 watercolors of costumes not used but labeled are also included). When the publisher saw the popularity of the Little Colonel Series, they commissioned a book of paper dolls and clothing which were executed by the author's step-daughter Mary Johnston. Each doll and its corresponding outfits (including hats) is mounted on heavy paper and labeled in Johnston's hand. The colors are vibrant and there is much detail. Also INCLUDES A FINE UNCUT COPY OF THE BOOK. The provenance of this wonderful item comes directly from family descendants. A very special item.
