When the British colonial government complained about her appearing naked before the natives while bathing, she laughed, threw off her clothes and paraded naked through the camp.

The Naked Spur is a 1953 Technicolor American Western film directed by Anthony Mann and starring James Stewart, Janet Leigh, and Robert Ryan. Written by Sam Rolfe and Harold Jack Bloom, the film is about a bounty hunter who tries to bring a murderer to justice, and is forced to accept the help of two strangers who are less than trustworthy.[2] The original music score was composed by Bronis aw Kaper and the cinematography was by William C. Mellor. The Naked Spur was filmed on location in Durango and the San Juan Mountains in Colorado, and Lone Pine, California.[3] The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay--a rare honor for a Western.[4] This was the third Western film collaboration between Anthony Mann and James Stewart. Provenance: From the estate of the San Francisco based film critic and B. Traven scholar Judy Stone (1924-2017), sister of I. F. Stone (1907-1989), the muckraking journalist .

Le fade Van Johnson y trouve ici son meilleur rôle, lui qui fut toujours voué aux compositions de gentils garçons insouciants, tandis que Peter Cushing se révèle terriblement touchant en cocu magnifique, fonctionnaire ennuyeux et conscient de l'être. Mal reçu aux Etats-Unis où les ligues puritaines ont crié au scandale, Vivre un grand amour a été bien accueilli en Europe et est encore considéré comme une excellente adaptation du roman de Graham Greene, à l'instar de la nouvelle version de Neil Jordan (La fin d'une liaison en 1999) avec Julianne Moore et Ralph Fiennes. NY Tmes Jan. 27, 1990: Madge Bellamy, an actress who starred in silent films in the 1920's, died on Wednesday at San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland, Calif. She was 90 years old and lived in Ontario, Calif. In the years between ''Hail the Woman,'' released in 1922, and ''The Daring Young Man'' in 1935, Miss Bellamy made 26 films. She was considered the Fox studio's answer to Clara Bow and Colleen Moore, her contemporaries at other studios. Grace Houghton, whose Vestal Press of Vestal, N.Y., is to publish Ms. Bellamy's autobiography, ''Darling of the Twenties,'' next month, said that the actress thought her best film was the 1928 adaptation of an Edna Ferber story, ''Mother Knows Best.''
