The foreword, written by Harald Nissen ( no relation to Claus Nissen, author of "Die botanische Buchillustration, Geschichte und Bibliographie") explains that Gunnerus was a scholar, translator of Leibnitz and founder of Det Trondhiemske Selskab, which later became det Kongelige Norske Videnskabers Selskab (a famous old natural history society). During his time as Bishop, Gunnerus corresponded with Carl Linnaeus in Uppsala, Sweden and was rewarded with the naming of a new genus Gunnera. An unfortunate choice of 'red on green' lettering on the cover makes it illegible for those, who like me, are colour-blind. The cover shows a short section of unmade road, a strange choice of image to describe a travelogue along the routes once taken by Carl Linnaeus. The pages are slightly 'tacky' and tend to stick to each other but can be separated easily.
