This collection is divided into two parts, the first part consisting of letters written by the Cardinal to several correspondents (Cardinals Borghese, Borgia, d'Este, Gonzaga, Infante di Spagna, Leni, Lodouisio, che su Gregorio XV; de'Medici; di Retz; Spinola Legato di Ferrara; Valiero; Vbaldini;Xauierre; Cavaliere Marin). The second consists largely of those written to the Duke of Monteleone in Spain. Very clean copy.. The letters span from 1607 to 1621. 248 pp. plus one three-page "table" (index). "...On 22 June 1633, Cardinal Bentivoglio (1577-1644) was one of the signers of the papal condemnation of Galileo.[6] An able writer and skillful diplomat, Bentivoglio was marked out as Pope Urban's successor, but he died suddenly after the opening of the 1644 Papal conclave...and is buried in the church of San Silvestro al Quirinale, Rome..."
