"Caldecott Medal" sticker on front of DJ. DJ with small pieces missing along spine and larger piece missing at bottom of spine. A few small holes on DJ. Light bumping, wrinkling, small chips and closed tears along edges and corners of DJ. Majority of DJ is intact and in Good to Very Good condition. Only date stated is Copyright 1948 by the author and then 1949 publication by Charles Scribners Sons. Thus I am assuming this is a 1st/1st. The book is probably in Fine condition while the DJ is in Very Good minus or Good Plus condition.

Probably the second printing, in the same year and format as the first but with the gold Caldecott Medal seal tipped onto the jacket front. Book is clean and tight; jacket has a small chip at each spine corner not affecting the text and is price-clipped, but otherwise whole, clean, bright and protected by an archival Mylar plastic cover. A very attractive copy.
