Possibly published c.1960s-70s (though 1957 date appears in volume). Sandglass flier laid in (Norwalk, no serial no.). --- A Near Fine copy: clean, bright and tightly bound but with a hint of sunning to spine. Slight soiling to spine, previous owner's signature on front pastedown and ffep, otherwise a clean, tight copy of one of the most important works in the history of science, which ultimately led to Darwin's magnum opus THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES.. Features an introduction by Gavin De Beer. Includes black and white illustrations of Robert Gibbings. A tight very good copy in cloth boards with a faint stain to the base of the spine in a very good glassine dust jacket with some toning to the spine and some other wear and in a very good plus slipcase with some light wear and a faint stain to the bottom edge and with laid in newsletter for the Limited Editions Club.
