London: Hutchinson, 1926. First UK Edition, preceding all others. Lengthily and personally INSCRIBED by the author on the front endpaper: "To -- / in memory of your stay at Dromagh. This is not a gift but a loan, to make sure you come back to return it. / Gilbert McNeill Moss."

A drama set in the then-modern heart of London society, involving a soldier and a lady, and like much of Moss' writing, is set during the aftermath of World War I.

Moss was a British soldier and writer who fought with the Grenadier Guards beginning in 1905, and throughout World War I. He retired at the rank of major in 1919 to devote himself to his writing. His œuvre consisted of novels, short story collections, verse, children's stories and works of nonfiction on European politics and military matters.

Graham Greene attributed his pro-German sympathies during the interwar period to Moss' stories, and one of his short stories, "Isn't Life Wonderful," was made into a film by D.W. Griffith.

Very Good in a Very Good example of the rare dust jacket. Foxing to front board. Jacket is lightly rubbed, with light chipping and a few short closed tears, but still bright and unfaded.
